have you prayed that jesus eliminates this form of music, then hold your breath until he comes through? try it, i'm sure it will work.
The crux of my post wasn't the hating God thing. I couldn't care less what their beliefs are to be honest, but how many more tinny, garbled, albums recorded in parents' basements must the world endure? There are a few really great black metal bands, but those bands seem to have evolved since 1994. I suspect the least talented musicians are the ones who embrace the primitive black metal sound as their means expression because it sounds great coming out of their single speaker cassette players, because we all know the Troo Kvlt way to go is cassettes.
I agree. I hate 99.999% of the crappy kvlt stuff. I do however really enjoy some of the black metal bands of the more 'melodic' or 'symphonic' variety. Then again, they have talent, hooks and a professional musical career. Ancient, Cradle of Filth and Absu are all bands that I consider faves from this genre.
I don't necessarily agree with or even like their lyrics, but I can get beyond that.
I remember that Christian black metal band who tried to make black metal with only piano...

for the life of me i cant remember. I do have one Christian death band that played mostly violins and little guitar - but they actually pulled it off.

It's simple, really. Metal is far too ambiguous. It's simply what houses all these sub-genres that everyone hates. Korn are not traditional heavy metal, of course, but where do you place nu-metal or modern metal? Surely under the umbrella of METAL.
Music is too dynamic these days. Metal and Rock are simply parent labels, thus, at their core, everything that falls under them are them.

What? "Thorn In My Side" FREAKING RULES. That earns the album some points, even if the rest fails to measure up.

I respectfully disagree. It's not much like its predecessor, but it's a solid heavy rock album for what it is. "Weeds" is INSANELY catchy.

Deliverance's "As Above/So Below".
I'm a huge fan of early Deliverance and had heard that this album was a return to that early sound. This is one of the blandest and boring albums I've ever heard.
I'm not sure I'd go that far, but yeah, AASB was certainly not the "Return To Form" it was purported as. I also found it to be somewhat bland. Why everyone lauds that album but hates on "Camelot In Smithereens" is FAR beyond me.

Thanks, Scott. I was trying to forget that thing ever existed. Thanks a lot.
For me, I've have to say Judas Priest's "Turbo" ranks up there, though I'm sure that was a gimme.

Just another loud rock band. Loud does not equal metal anymore than hardcore or punk does. The Who were loud, but are not metal, yet in there heyday they were more metal than "thebandthatshallneverbementionedagain" ever was (check out Live at Leeds). Some hardcore and punk bands may have metal influences, but clearly are not metal. And I'm done with this topic.

Yes, that was horrible. I like Jethro Tull, but they are not even close to a metal band. Shows just how confused the mainstream is when it comes to what metal is.
