| Sorry if this has been brought up in the past week or so, I'm still off the 'net, only able to use it whenever I head over to the future in-laws' house...
I gotta say, I'm really diggin' the new cover albums by Poison (Poison'd)and Tesla (Real to Reel). Anyone else? I bought the Wal-Mart version of Poison'd, which has a pretty funny "exclusive" cover of Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back". I've seen that the Target version has two "lawn" tickets to any summer Poison concert, that's pretty cool.
The only minuses are the fact that five of the tracks on the Poison album have already been released by them over the years, I would've rather they done 5 new cover songs. And as for Tesla, I knew going into this it was only one disc, but I think the packaging is very misleading (even though there is a fine print about how to get the 2nd disc). Seems a bit silly that they went through the trouble of putting the track listing for "Reel 2" on the back of the album and talk about those songs in the booklet as well when the only way you can get the CD is if you buy a concert ticket.

| I like both of those discs. I like Tesla's a bit better, I think that Tesla chose an overall better group of songs. Don't get me wrong I like the Poison selections, like Can't You See, which is an awesome song, but I'm kind of upset because Poison asked visitors to their Myspace which songs they should cover and people replied with Free Bird, Ballroom Blitz, You Shook Me All Night Long, and Alice Cooper's Poison. So they went ahead and didn't record any of those, which I would have loved to hear, but there good cover none the less. | |

| We discussed the Tesla disc in the Tesla thread. I think it's fairly obvious that Tesla will make disc 2 available to everyone. It's only logical, as the included so much about disc 2 in the packaging. Right now they're just trying to entice people to see a show (which is far more important to a band these days than selling CDs). |

| I saw the Poison cd when I was picking up the Tesla cd. I didn't get it, but I've put it on my "if-I-see-it-cheap-maybe" list. I'm a casual Poison fan at best, but I do enjoy cover cd's. | |

| I heard the Poison covers disc (thanks to a friend) for the first time last night. Some of it's pretty good, some of it is just "ehh." I liked the versions of "Suffragette City" and "What I Like About You" the best. I wouldn't run out to buy it at full price, but if I come across a used copy a few months from now I'll probably pick it up. | |

| A buddy of mine "in the biz" hooked me up with a free copy of the Poison cd. I've given it a few spins already and I'm pretty much like Freddy. I can't exactly put my finger on why it's just not clicking. It's ok, but nothing great. Also, it's hard not to compare it with the far superior Tesla release. I got mine free, so I'm not complaining. | |

Because like most covers albums, there's just no passion involved. |

I also think that Overkill's covers disc is fantastic.

| Six Feet Under's is amusing for sure. I also like their AC/DC tribute CD. | |

They don't sound like paint-by-numbers albums; they sound like the band put some passion into it, like they really were into doing the album, rather than just having a "let's get it over with" attitude. |
