Skeletonwitch's Beyond the Permafrost has been growing on me lately. I'll admit I'm not crazy about the black metal vocal style but the music is very cool and I give them credit for trying something fresh instead of overindulging in nostalgia.

That is a good one, especially those looking for an introduction to the new wave of thrash. I don't think there is anything exclusive to this release, but it's a good primer. Of the 16 tracks on here, I think I own at least 10 of the bands represented here.
