This is a press release that I just got in my Yahoo Mail. Never heard of the band, but I guess with the success of Christmas albums by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Twisted Sister (to name just a few), something like this was inevitable.

Gods Of Fire are a Metal band from N.Y.C. who are known for never taking the road well traveled. Since the release of their first album WRATH OF THE GODS in 2003 the Gods Of Fire have been the pit band for a Metal fashion show, the musical directors for a play about competitive air guitar, the warm up band for real air guitar competitions, and have been featured on the soundtrack for two major motion pictures.

Their sophomore album HANUKKAH GONE METAL is no exception. The band has crafted a uniquely original work that tells the story of Hanukkah through a rich fusion of heavy metal music, operatic vocals, traditional melodies, and a Klezmer soul. The eight-song collection features two holiday favorites, "Oh Hanukkah" and "Havenu Shalom Aleichem," alongside original songs about the menorah, gelt, spinning dreidels, fighting dragons for latke oil and a historical document of the Maccabean war. For fans of Iron Maiden, Manowar, Helloween, Dio, Judas Priest and Dream Theater.

Gods Of Fire will support the album with two special Jewish themed shows during the week of Hanukkah. The first is a release party at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on December 12th with a follow-up on December 17th at New York City's Fontanas.

I have that WRATH OF THE GODS album, and like it quite a bit.
I doubt i will be buying this though.....

Because there's no money to be made. Gene Simmons just found the right marketing tools to fool people into KISS for all these years.

My impression is that these guys were a good band. I'm surprised to see them do this ... it certainly is the road less traveled.

I like that album too (got it from the $5 CD Baby sale). The song City Of Gold is a great song IMO. However, I doubt I'd get this one myself.
