| On Friday I was on the Matter Of The Beast Summer Tour 07 in Ludwigshafen. I’m not good in writing reviews, but I will try to sum up my impressions from that concert. It was the first time that I was in Ludwigshafen, so I was happy that there where a lot of signs so that it was very easy to find the parking area. But when we left the parking area, there were no signs to get to the stadium. After asking some people, we were told how to get there; it was a walk of more than 2 km. Impossible to find without a map or asking people who knows the way around. Strange… The location itself was excellent. It was a soccer stadium of a 3rd league team. Food and drinks at normal festival prices. And a lot of different Iron Maiden Tour Shirts to choose from. I picked one with the actual cover of A Matter Of Life and Death. The show started with Lauren Harris the daughter of Steve Harris. This was nice, but nothing special at all. They played 25 minutes. After that Mastodon played for 30 minutes. That was better and much heavier than the band before. I heard from them before, but never heard anything of them since then. I think that they aren’t bad, but something bothered me. I don’t know exactly what it was, maybe the vocal style…The next band was Paparoach, they played 45 minutes. That was really boring for me and my son, because we both don’t like Paparoach at all. But my wife enjoyed them very much. I must admit, that they sound live a bit harder and better than on CD, but it does nothing for me at all. The next band was the first highlight for me, In Flames played 60 minutes. They did a very good show although they had not the full lightshow and no phyro effects at all. Anders Frieden was better dressed than on the Come Clarity tour, when I saw them the last time. There he had a little bit funny dressing. Here is the set list of In Flames: Cloud Connected Leeches Pinball Map Trigger Dark Signs Only For The Weak Egonomic Crawl Through Knives Come Clarity Graveland Bottled The Quiet Place Take This Life My Sweet Shadow And then finally Iron Maiden. I never saw Maiden before and it was really amazing to see this legend live on stage. Suitable to the cover of the current album the stage was build looked like trenches. The sound was very good and Bruce was running on the stage like a madman. Unbelievable what an energy he has and crystal-clear vocals. The show was amazing, and proved well the top status of Iron Maiden. But it was a little bit too short. They played only 90 minutes which is the minimum of a headliner of such an event. Here is the setlist: Different world These colors don't run Brighter than a thousand suns Wrathchlild The trooper Children of the damned Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg For the greater good of god The number of the beast Fear of the dark Run to the hills Iron maiden Encore: 2 minutes to midnight The evil that men do Hallowed be thy name After the show we had again a 2 km walk through the city of Ludwigshafen. And then at the parking area there where no cops to lead the movement of cars. So it took us 45 minutes to leave the parking area. Not bad for 300 meters… But after all it was an amazing concert day and we had a lot of fun. :metal:

| Why would they even put Paparoach on this bill? What a waste of stage time.
Sounds like you had a blast though! |

| At a 2007 show in Germany last month Bruce said that they would be back in 2008 "with some pyramids and stuff." I think we all know what that means after the early years tour they did following the dvd release. I'm looking forward to celebrating the middle years of Maiden. |
