Holy Cross

Wargod turned me onto this AWESOME freekin' band from France on another board (Rock Island), and it really blew me away upon first listen!

This reminds me of Iced Earth, if they were starting NOW, instead of 20 years ago.

Check them out! Oh ... you can only get their album at one place if you live in the USA and that's CD Inzane. I just ordered me a copy today. Let me know what you think of this new band okay?

Sorry, this sounded very generic to me. Like a garage band version of Grave Digger. The French just cannot seem to get their metal straight.

I disagree. I think France is really starting to come up to speed with bands. Heavenly is another band I'm very impressed with.

I know Wargod loves it and ordered it from CDInzane as well. All the people who heard this band on Rock Island were doing flip-flops. There was not one person there who did 'not' like it.

Yup. I never liked Heavenly either. The only french band in this cateory I've enjoyed is Nightmare. And their albums are so darn hard to get a hold of.

I've never heard Nightmare. I'll try to check them out.

But yeah, I love Heavenly - though Holy Cross is a lot different than them.

Holy Cross has more of an American styled 'aggressive' power metal much like Iced Earth.

So if you don't like Iced Earth, I could totally see you not liking Holy Cross. Because that is what they sound like (only they are original and not a rip-off).

But yeah ... this band does it for me! I almost peed my pants upon first hearing this!!!


I know most here will love this as well!

I checked out the myspace link. It does have an Iced Earth vibe to it.

Pretty good but nothing i'm going to rush out and get. I'm more with Kmorg, most of the French bands seem to be missing something.

In case you guys didn't know ... the first 20 seconds or so of that first song is 'subdued'. If you only listen for a few seconds it does sound 'generic'.

Then the music kicks in - and KILLS!

I think some of you might be just listening to the opening part, before the annihilation sets in.

Because at first I thought the same thing. This is generic. Until the real music kicks in.

So make sure you listen to ALL of that first song before responding.

FYI, I heard both full songs.

French had always great bands. From TRUST, BLASPHEME, SORTILEGE, H-BOMB, SATAN JOKERS, ADX, KILLERS etc...back in the days till MALEDICTION or OVERSTEP today. I think this band HOLY CROSS is cool. Sound realy cool. Pure heavy metal the way it should sound.

I think they sound pretty good!
