| I'm almost 100% sure my top 5 there will remain the top 5. Unless Masterplan and JOP release dates make it before 2010 I don't forsee anything changing it. | |

| so going by the collectors corner thread would it be wild of me to assume that these lists or even the usual "top albums of 2009" list at the end of the year will include many downloads and not so many physical copies ??
I'll be staight and say that I haven't purchased 20 2009 albums this year so my end of year list will feature some unusual crap, but that's the honest way it works.
So are we or people in general on message boards (not only here), fooling themselves when they list downloads ? cause you know that 18-21yrs olds and older to some dregree are not purchasiing the album they talk about. |

My will have downloads, but they are ones I PAID FOR on itunes or amazon. And that is rare i.e. - I couldn't find the new Ace anywhere locally, so I bought it off i-tunes. I am not a fan of downloading illegally and think it is stealing. At least I got the "Return Of The Space Bear" track. I may pick it up on vinyl for the heck of it some day.

| Mine are all bought and paid for (a few I downloaded but soon after purchased). I'll probably have a top 50 list again this year because I've gotten plenty of 2009 releases this year. | |

| I purchase both downloads & physical discs, depends on the album and what the better deal is. When I have a choice of an $18.99 physical CD...and a $5.99 download for the same album on iTunes...I'll buy the download.
Listening before I buy is mostly limited to Lala.com these days. I do download occasionally, but if I like the album I WILL purchase it. |

| I always purchase the physical album. That's the real deal. Nothing less for me.
If I have a choice of purchasing an album for $19.99 or or buying a download for just $ 1.99 - I'm still gonna pay the 20 bucks and have the actual product in my CD room.
The ONLY time I download at all - is if I cannot find something that is long out of print. I will usually pay upwards of nearly $40.00 though before I'll download.
And when I do download an album - I always burn it to CD and make a professional album cover for it. Though it is very rare that I'll download. Very rare.
So yes, 110% of the albums that make my 2009 list are all bought and paid for hard copies.
And I'm also one of those people who thinks downloading without paying for it is stealing.
Downloading and paying for it is buying only half the product, IMHO.

I dunno about the rest, but I have bought every single album on my list. Sure, I download albums sometimes, but most of the part they're out of print albums or rare demos by unknown bands. I admit to having cut down a little on my CD purchases, but since I have to live on 250 euros a month that's not unusual...

Most of us have, I don't care if I don't purchase the new Burning Point album this year or next, I'll either get it when I have funds or I'll purchase a secondhand or cheaper copy. There are bands like J.O.P., Overkill, Rebellion, Grave Digger etc... that I will purchase as soon as they come out, but so many others can wait. |

Some must haves but a lot of stuff that went unpurchased (mostly cause NEH is charging $22 a cd now..) or went to nuclearhell now... _________________

| Remember:
Bands make actual money from purchasing legal downloads (Amazon, iTunes, etc).
Bands make no money from people buying used CDs and promos.
So, if part of your reason for collecting your favorite artists albums on a physical CD is because of wanting to support the band...make sure you buy it new. |

So true, an Ultimatum CD sold by you to me is doing the band no good in financial terms but best not think that people are constant purchasers or songs from Itunes and the likes (I don't but I know nothing about Itunes) to me I really feel that the older fans are the ones who will seek out the physical copies, be it Vinyl or CDs etc. Do a google search and turn up pages of 2009 releases, you think many are going to head off and purchase a legal download when all they have to do is hit the "download now" button ? It will be good to see how well the Gama Bomb album does when it's a physical release because of the few boards that I am on, all the replies have been "can't wait to purchase this" "looking forward to picking it up when it's released" and it's pure bull-smurf poo in my opinion. |

| I haven't bought a ton of 2009 releases, though I've tried to keep up. My big thing this year has been retro stuff and filling in discographies where I had holes. However, I'm into a few 2009 releases I'll list:
1. Orphan Project - Spooning Out the Sea 2. Floodline - Beneath the Waves 3. Darkness Before Dawn - Kings To You 4. Step Cousin - The Evolution Religion 5. Believer - Gabriel (took a long time for me to really get into this)
