i'm not much of a death metal guy but i've been getting into it lately. got "scrolls of the megiloth" by mortification recently... very good album. also, got jack slater's "blut macht frei." EXCELLENT album, very intense and technical. so, any favorites you'd like to list? maybe a few recommendations for someone like myself?

Check out Morbid Angel, one of the best death metal bands in history and you should check out the thread it has sound/video clips.
mmm i've given them listens before countless times and they never did anything for me. i'm listening to it now though and it don't sound too bad... might give it some more listens later, thanks for the rec.

i've got death's "individual thought patterns" and "symbolic" and find them both incredibly enjoyable albums, although that's when they became more technical progressive trash than death metal. obituary is a band i really need to check out, thanks for reminding me. impetigo i'm unfamiliar with. atheist's "piece of time" is a really good trash/death metal album.

Yeah, the song is called death metal..... If you consider that song death might as well call Vengeance rising, coroner, Kreator, or any other hard edged vocal thrash band death metal too.

I like the ol stand bys.Death,Obituary,Cannibal Corpse,Early Mortification.A good one for you to check out is Metanoia.Also Ethereal Scourge had an album called Judgement and Restoration that is some beautiful death metal.

Children of bodom. Although they're only linked to death metal because of the vocals. I used to hate this band. Now i'm a big fan!

Ah. I almost forgot. Behemoth (are they death or black metal?). I hate the lyrics but the music on Evangelion is astonishing.

Divine Empire - Redemption ...is my fav Death Metal album. One of only a few DM albums I can listen to all the way through. It has some killer groove to it.
