| I personally think the Supreme Court should be made up of a cross section of races & political backgrounds, it's the only way for a FAIR court. |

| As a white man I am terrified about what this means for my money, as a black and a latino in such high places of power will surely mean that the country will spiral into the abyss. We are doing EXACTLY what the terrorists want us to do! 9/11! 9/11! Never forget!
The above statement is meant as parody and does not reflect my actual view. |

Bring on the reverse racism. Exactly. However since she's replacing a judge who was also basically liberal, I don't really think she's going to tilt court decisions one way or the other. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

It's always one extreme or another. There is never any middle ground of fairness between the liberals and conservatives. Bush sucked and Obama is blowing huge amounts of tax payer money on crap and his lobbyist friends.

It's always one extreme or another. There is never any middle ground of fairness between the liberals and conservatives. Bush sucked and Obama is blowing huge amounts of tax payer money on crap and his lobbyist friends. She's probably actually more moderate that Souter was, but that remains to be seen. I am glad we have a better representation of America on the court, that said I would have much rather it was a Latino LIBERTARIAN type justice!!!!! The court isn't going to change, the justices on the right aren't going to quit while obama is in office (unless they die). They will wait until a republican is president, just like Souter waited for obama to be elected to retire. Now, if Sotomayor was a conservative, she would have been cruciified and nailed to the cross by the dems, just like they tried to lynch Thomas back in the early 90's. And yes, obama is spending away our children's future. He's like a college kid with a brand spankin' new credit card on spring break!!!

| I judge on content of character not race. I am all for fairness in every aspect but some minorities hold grudges against whites that didn't even have anything to do with past injustices (i.e. sins of the father). Some will be the equivalent of the white racist but trying to turn it around and commencing a never ending cyle of predudice and distrust between fellow americans. Power is a bad thing in the wrong hands... Too bad MLK wasn't our first black president because i would have voted for him not a modern Malcolm X. | |

| Personally, I think its fine and dandy for the Latino sector, not that I really agree with her views. However I am still deeply saddened by the fact that in a country we essentially stole and with all this focus on race and natives as of late, there is still 0 cause of representative of the actual Native American side of things, they're looked at as more of a historical footnote almost and thats a bunch of ox manur. | |

Excellent point, but that may be because many tribes hold a sovereign nation status. Hence not being represented by the public servants at large.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for bring that up. I get so pissed when some African Americans act like America owes them everything. If America owes anything to any race, it's the Native American. From Columbus to Trail of Tears to Manifest Destiny, the racism by all races toward Native Americans is so extremely ignored, it's not even funny. Yes, African Americans endured great hardship, but not every American was for slavery and looked down on blacks. No one gave a damn about the Native Americans. We just uprooted them, and if the didn't work, slaughtered them. No one ever considers them.

The civil war was fought to free the slaves but what war was fought for the rights of the American Indians?

Are you only talking about the Supreme Court? Because Ben Nighthorse Campbell was in the Senate until 2005. Not a lot, granted, but it's not like there's never been native representation in the government.

| I'm for a mixed representation if it's the best people. Her biggest case just got overturned and mostly her qualifications have been about race which will not help us. There are some great minorities and surprisingly to many, Bush appointed many but since they aren't dem they don't seem to count. As for Obama, what did we expect from a jr. Senator? Myself, I want Rice to run for POTUS but I think she's done. |

| I felt pride that a Latino made it to the Supreme Court. It will change the unvirse and certainly doesnot change the make up of the court. As a miniority I have experienced racism etc, but that has been by a very small group of people, a small group of people that I might add where morons. most people no matter what color or creed they are, are not racist. I think that as a country as whole we focus too much on what divides us, things like race, religion, whether or not if one or is conversative or libreal, in the end of the day who gives a sh!t. | |
