When you think of metal and Texas you either get an image of the Houston groups (King's X, Galactic Cowboys, and Atomic Opera) or Pantera. Imagine my suprise when I found a real metal band from Texas. Not just from Texas but from The Colony, a town I went to high school in and where the Wal-Mart I work at is located. Just recently picked up a CD by these guys at Best Buy on a blind purchase. Turned out to be a great find. These guys play a combination of classic metal, NWOBHM, and good ol' American power metal (yes the real McCoy, not what is these days called power metal). They mangage to do this without sounding dated. The closest comparison I can make is Twisted Tower Dire meets Astral Doors. The vocalist has a great voice that is a combination of the vocalits for both those two bands. Unfortunatly most of their CDs are a bit pricey in Amazon due to them being dicontinued by the manufacturer. However, the latest CD is readily availiable on Amazon and CD Baby. I'm sure many here will like these guys, I highly recommend them.

Heard a lot about these guys over the years but have never checked'em out. Sounds like something that would be up my alley tho.

Some Irish wank on this board has been their biggest fanboy for a decade. He actually lives in Aska! Good stuff, but, apparanetly, their first cd is impossible to locate.

Aska is an amazing band. I discovered them, as i am a huge fan of their singer Georges Call, who currently fronts Cloven Hoof.

The first album i picked up was "Nine Tongues" earlier this summer.

I got too more in the mail today: Avenger and Absolute Power.

I saw a video of Dimebag jamming with them on YouTube. Before that I never heard of them. I think they are pretty good!
