Hammerfall

I couldn't find this posted anywhere else here yet, but according to metalstorm.ee, guitarist Stefan Elmgren has called it quits and has left Hammerfall.

yea its true. kinda sucks but what else is new. theres a bunch of kind of surprising splits from bands this week its crazy. you got this guy from hammerfall, scott weiland left velvet revolver (come on GNR!!!) and then stratovarius is over now whos next????

For Hammerfall as a band has run its course.. I really did not find a lot of interesting things on their last effort...

Love Hammerfall, as long as Oscar is playing Rhythm guitar hammerfall will always be hammerfall regardless of the lead guitar player. One thing i learned is that most lead guitarists are easily replaced. As long as Oscar is writing those catchy metal riffs hammerfall will be hammerfall

Sucks but being a Hammerfall fan, I have faith that they will find a worthy replacement. Hammerfall has not disapointed me with a release yet.

Too bad HammerFall aren't big enough to merit owning their own private jumbo jet like Iron Maiden is... then he could stay in the band and fly them wherever they need to go, just like Bruce Dickinson is doing with Maiden on their current tour.

Some Hammerfall news for all y'all...
On June 27, two new HAMMERFALL releases will see the light of day: a DVD continuing chronicling the band's career, and a covers CD — a collection of all the covers recorded by HAMMERFALL to date plus three new, unreleased ones. Incidentally, this will be guitarist Stefan Elmgren's last release with HAMMERFALL.

* "Rebels With A Cause - Unruly, Unrestrained, Uninhibited" DVD:

The DVD will be a continuation of the previous two ("The First Crusade" and "The Templar/Renegade Crusades") and will contain newly recorded interviews with the band interspersed with footage from their own cameras. The time span is six years, from the beginning of 2002 until the end of 2007, and it's edited together as a documentary of sorts, i.e. one continuous film, but of course with chapters. Also included will be all six promo videos made during the time in question plus some behind the scenes, four professionally filmed live songs from Filderstadt 2005, five TV clips they have purchased the rights to from SVT (the Swedish national television network) and some more homemade stuff as bonus. The complete running time is estimated to be almost three hours.

Sounds good to me.

The covers CD sounds like fun. I've only heard a few of those, but HF have always had a knack for cool cover tunes.

nice! Ive been bored with the last couple of HammerFall cds but hopefully now with all the changes going on they will make a better next album.

In a sort of related note, the sentinel can't find his favorite Hammerfall disc (Renegade). He has looked in both cars and all over his house, but still can't find it.

I am absolutely psyched for this covers disc. I really like some of the more obscure stuff they picked like tracks 16 and 18 by Riot and Europe. Very cool!!!

Elmgren is a very tasteful and melodic player; his leads were often quite memorable and Hammerfall's instrumental songs have always been good as well. I guess we'll have too see. Its kinda ironic though that they have had the same lineup for nine years only to have two members leave within this last year.

I agree that Elmgren is an excellent lead guitarist and is a big loss for Hammerfall. 2 members in the last year. Lets hope this is not the begining of the end as I love this band.

On a side note I'm sure a lot of you will have already heard this but fans of Stefan Elmgren should check out his solo album we will rise under the monicker full strike.

I sorta lost interest in these guys, but I'm a sucker for cover albums. I'd be willing to give this one a shot.

I, being a proud Templar will most definatly get the cover CD and maybe later down the line, the DVD.

Nice to see a Chastain song. He really disappeared.

I definitely wanna hear that cover of Loudness' "Crazy Nights" so I'll be picking that covers CD up.

Listening to the covers album right now. I of course own most of these on various Hammerfall limited edition discs, and/or on tribute discs they've been on. I'm especially looking forward to hear the previously unreleased tracks. It's also great to finally have them all on 1 disc. Now I donæt have to get the US version of Crimson Thunder just to hear the KISS song
