Favorite War Movie

There are a lot of them out there and many many classics. What would be your favorite war movie and why?

Dude, that part where they're in that town and the tanks are approaching is just amazing. Everything is quiet outside of the rumbling of incoming tanks that they can't see. Every time I see that scene my heart starts to race and I start sweating. It's that real. Such an awesome piece of work.

Just watched Saving Private Ryan this week with my son. Awesome flick.

Well, there's a lot of different wars out there to just make a favourite one. But I could give you a top 5 in no particular order: (And I'm excluding all other "war" movies like Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, etc.)

Full Metal Jacket

I LOVE this movie; it's like 2 movies in one. The first half is hilarious. Then once the sergeant is killed, it turns much more serious.

Kellys hero's is pretty good. I just love it how they make Donald Sutherlin's character a total hippy when the movie is about WWII.

Saving Private Ryan is amazing, EYE you hit it nail on with that last scene. The lady starts singing over the loud speaker and there laughing then all of a sudden you hear tanks in the distant. That scene is so real and heart wrenching at the same time.

Enemy at the Gate was incredible and based very much on a true story.
Braveheart is my favorite followed by We Were Soldiers.

Enemy At The Gates is excellent. Good to see a few others know that underrated film.

First Blood.

Sure it's one man's war, but it's a war nonetheless.

Yeah, The Thin Red line is like the war movie equivalent of The Blair Witch Project:

I forgot Glory, that was excellent.

Hated, Born On the Fourth of July. Tom sucks in it.

How about, Hamburger Hill? That was brutal.

I liked the Thin Red Line, but to each his/her own right? I thought of a couple more that I like.
