Tool

I wasn't gonna post this because in most metal forums that I post at most people don't like Tool. Also, I did a search on this forum as well. I don't pay attention to their lyrics, although I hear their pretty perverse. But I like Tool. I don't care whether Maynard has a any kind of attitude or not. I just like how they sound. I'm listening to 10,000 days right now. Sounds pretty good to me.

Not really into them, there are loads of progressive bands that are better than them and that are more deserving of the recognition IMO. James Keenan needs an attitude adjustment too.

Can't stand this band. They play them constantly on the local Clear Channel station.

The only album of their's that does anything for me is Aenima but I love that one.

I like Tool, saw them live a few years ago and they put on one hell of a show, I don't listen to them as often as I once did but I still think they are a great band.

WAY overrated. I have the first 3 releases...."Opiate" was great..."Undertow" cool...They hot their stride with 'Aenima"...then they decided to believe all their own press and hype and think themselves the millenial equivelent to PINK FLOYD, complete with a hey all our last few cds have sounded exactly the same thing going.

Listen to FAR instead, a far more deserving So.Cal band from the same time frame that noone knows of....

I think they are a good band, but I think Maynard thinks they are "the" band. The forerunners of Prog Rock, and honestly the last album was all fill, and it didn't flow. They are talented and make good music, but they are not Gods like many make them to be.

It doesnt help that Maynard is such an A-hole either. He should lay off the rude comments and be more appreciative of his fans.

I like em - I know maynard is an a**hole, so I don't read anything about them as to not ruin the listening experience.

They are not a constant player on my ipod, but I will dial it up when I have a long drive.

I've tried to like this band before but something about their music doesn't work for me. I just end up feeling bored.

I share these sentiments.

I like a couple of their albums really well. I think they're really talented but I can see how they come off a bit aloof to many people.

I agree with Shiney on this one. Opiate, Undertow & Aenima. Then

Anything that associates with Buzzfest, Puddle of Mudd, Trapt, Nickelback, Three Days Grace, etc I typically steer away from.

I figured you would say something like this. Probably, if back when I was starting to explore metal, if I wouldn't have started out with a bunch of folks pushing nu-metal type stuff on me I wouldn't have given Tool half a chance, but that isn't exactly how it worked. One night I was listening to them and then bammm they hit me over the head and I thought man these guys are great. I don't find myself listening to them as much as I used to though. But I don't get involved with whether Maynard is a jerk or any of the other stuff.

I don't even know who Maynard is. I just genuinely don't like them much. Think it's the singers voice I don't care for. That song that starts off, "who are you to wave you finger..." or something like that, drives me nuts and makes me want to punch someone.

I have two of their albums; Lateralus and 10,000 Days. They're both kind of hit and miss. Some great songs on both of them, but also lots of weird filler crap. I think that they're kinda pretentious, and yeah Maynard is a dick (I met him at some wine thing) but I like their music. Pretty good alt-prog-metal stuff.

Dont care for them at all.I dont like their sound or the guys voice.

I love Aenima and Lateralus, the other albums I can't really get in to.

I tried getting into these guys, based on a recommendation of an ex-coworker who was a major fan-boy. He burned me a cdr of a few songs and I even saw them live, but nothing really stuck. What I heard was ok enough, but nothing that I felt compelled to run out & purchase.

Ditto. I have a hard time listening to an entire album because of the filler stuff. I tend to listen to specific songs when I am in the mood for Tool. I particularly like "Schism," Aenema," and "The Grudge."

Stinkfist, Forty 6, & 2, Hooker With A Penis, Pushit, Aenima are all solid tracks. The rest... Meh, hit or miss. I think Aenima is there best effort, with Lateralus following in a close second. 10,000 days sounds like the b-sides of Lateralus. The only song I really like from any of their earlier works is Sober.
