So I'm watching the DVD "On The Road With The Dropkick Murphys" that I just got. There's about 4 hours worth of material here but I started with a live show that was filmed on St. Patrick's Day in Boston back in 2002.
What a fun show! They opened with a band of traditional Irish bagpipers playing A Call To Arms. About halfway through, DKM's own piper Spicy McHaggis strolled onstage complete with kilt. Then In the middle of "Sing Loud, Sing Proud", they brought out a troupe of Irish step-dancers. And for The Spicy McHaggis Jig, the band invited all the women to gather round Spicy (provided they weren't afraid to be near a man not wearing underwear). The first song of the encore was "Amazing Grace"; it sure is weird seeing people stage dive to that song! The finale was the song "Skinhead On The MTA", a classing DKM song. They invited as many people from the audience as would fit onstage. It was so crowded, the only person you could see was the singer. Toward the end, one of the guitar players kept playing while he crowd surfed!
Note to self: next time The Dropkick Murphys visit St. Lou, get tickets!
I know Olafsto likes this band, anybody else into these Irish punks?
