| Well, this is interesting. | | GEEZER BUTLER: Why I'm A Vegan - Apr. 29, 2009 |
| BLACK SABBATH/HEAVEN & HELL bassist Geezer Butler has teamed up with peta2 — the world's largest youth animal rights organization — to shoot a brand-new pro-vegetarian ad featuring Butler as he picks at his bass next to the tagline "I'm Geezer Butler, and I'm a vegan." (See video below.)
"I used to eat meat when I was a little kid, but I didn't know where it came from," says Butler, who was born in Birmingham, England. "And one day, I cut this piece of meat open, and blood came out of it, and I asked me mother, 'Where did this come from?' and she said, 'From animals,' and that was it."
In an exclusive interview with peta2, Butler talks about how he enjoys having friends over for dinner, serving them faux meat, and waiting for the compliments to start rolling in before telling his guests that they just ate a delicious vegan meal. And his compassion for animals goes beyond the dinner table. Butler and his wife are very involved in the battle against puppy mills and the cat and dog overpopulation crisis. "There are so many dogs and cats and all kinds of animals [who] need homes," he says. "You know, there's no reason to go out and buy them from a pet shop when you can just get them from your local shelter."

| Cool for Tha Geez, though I couldn't do it personally. Those animals are so dern tasty.
I'm totally in his corner on the puppy mills/breeders topic though. All of the pets my wife and I have had since we got together have been adopted from animal shelters. I can't understand going to a breeder or a pet store and spending big $$$ on an animal when there are literally thousands of them being euthanized in shelters every day cuz they cant' find homes. My wife's cousin works part-time for an animal rescue organization that takes puppies from puppy mills and adopts them out, and she has come home from rescue trips down South with some serious horror stories. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

They are right down the street from Pat Robertson's headquarters. 'nuff said. I hope they bury his self-righteous patooty right next to his old dead crony Jerry Fall-well! LOL!!!! Yes, PETA is close to pat-ville. People for the un-Ethical Treatment of human Animals (or people eating tasty animals) is in Norfolk, patville is in virgina beach. I met Robert Sweet at a taping out there once (autograph thing) just before IGWT came out. There used to be a joke about robertson's college (regent university, formerly cbn university) - what's the difference between the trash and a regent u girl? at least the trash gets taken out once a week.

There used to be a joke about robertson's college (regent university, formerly cbn university) - what's the difference between the trash and a regent u girl? at least the trash gets taken out once a week. We used to make that joke about Jersey girls with slight variations. "Difference between a Jersey girl and trash? You'd take out the trash". And then there was "What do Jersey girls and trash have in common? They're both sitting on the curb in the morning waiting to be picked up". Apologies to my bro Freddy. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I used to live with a "Vegan" in college. I have a step brother who is also a "Vegan". Trust me, if you bite into anything that is faux meat, you will either spit it right back out (at worst), or just politely give the cook a nod (at best), letting them think you know how tasty it is.

They're annoying but I don't think they're considered "Terrorists." They don't break into laboratories and set test animals free (as some other, more underground fringe animal-rights groups are known to do) but PETA does have a knack for stupid publicity stunts that get their message on TV and in the papers. Stuff like asking Judas Priest to change the name of their HELLBENT FOR LEATHER album to HELLBENT FOR PLEATHER (yes, they really did that some years back), finding hot models and posing them naked on street corners with signs ("I'd rather go naked than wear fur!"), stuff like that. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I've got a friend who is a partner in an artist management company and one of his bands has a couple of vegan members. Whenever I go out to eat with them I swear it takes about an hour of arguing until we all can agree on a restaurant that has something we all want to eat. Vegetarian, I can understand but vegan severely cuts down on your food choices. | |

| While I think PETA started out with good intentions, somewhere along the line, they took a wrong turn. Some of the things they petition against is way out in left field. There are other more worthwhile things to fight against than some of the goofy things they find offensive. I am all for animal rights, but even I have rolled my eyes at some of the things they have done. I went vegan about 2 1/2 years ago, and while some of you think it's "whack", I have to say, I feel better than I have since I was a teenager. I am not preaching to anyone and would never say "It's the only way to go", but it has worked for me. metalinmyveins - some of that faux meat isn't too bad. | |

| More power to him. I'm glad he's found a healthy lifestyle that's working for him. I eat tons of chicken and fish. I love vegetables as well and eat plenty of them. I work out 5-6 days a week and I feel great! I'm in the best shape of my life. That's what works for me. Oh, and I like my leather jacket, so back off! _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

metalinmyveins - some of that faux meat isn't too bad. I'm glad the vegan lifestyle has worked for you. I wonder if the vegan lifestyle favors a certain sex. I lived with two girls in college. One of the girls was a vegan. She looked fairly healthy. My step-brother on the other hand, looks deathly anytime I've seen him. He looks frail enough, that if a big wind came up, it actually might pick him up and carry him away. His Mother (my father's wife) holds nothing back in front of me, regarding how bad he looks most of the time. I could be wrong, but he seems like one of those candidates that would be the poster boy, for why this lifestyle wouldn't be good. There was someone within the entertainment industry a few years ago, who had to start eating meat again, because the vitamins that they were taking wasn't acting as a proper supplement. Their body was basically deteriorating away. I want to say this person was a male.

| I could never go Vegan. I love my meat and my leather jacket and boots. I am all for treating animals well, but there's a difference between killing an animal for food and torturing it. I have a hard time watching Animal Cops on Animal Planet because it makes me want to find those people and bloody them up for some of the stuff they do to those poor animals. I also don't believe in killing an animal and only using part of it. Do like the Native Americans did and use the whole thing. | |

Amen. The wife and I watch that show and we're guaranteed to say "Wow, people suck" at least once per episode. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
