| I grew up listening to him and Richie Ashburn call Phillies games.
RIP.

| Very sad news indeed. I was debating if I should post that as I didn't think too many would know who he was. I had the pleasure of working with him on many occasions as well as sharing a beer in the press club after Phillies games while Harry told some great stories, most of which would never, ever be allowed on the airwaves. I'll raise a glass for ya tonight, Harry. Take your seat up there with Whitey. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | He was also the voice of NFL Films for the last decade or so. Anyone who has seen NFL Films highlights has heard his voice. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| BTW, I knew we has several PA members who would recognize that name. I just googled his name. He's been the voice of NFL Films since 1975!!! I also learned I was 11 when he was hired to do play by play for the Phillies. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| RIP Harry. Also, Mark "the Bird" Fidrych passed away today, and with Nick Adenhart of the Angels in his tragic accident last week, this has been one tough week for baseball. God rest their souls. | |

WOW! I hadn't heard that about The Bird. I remember his schtick. Baseball needs characters like that. RIP. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I'll raise a glass for ya tonight, Harry. Take your seat up there with Whitey. Cool you got to meet him MG! I never liked "Whitey" (except the Herzog variety) but Harry gained my respect as I got older. BTW, being a Cardinal fan even way back then when they were in the same division, I grew up hating the Phillies. But Harry eventually won me over with his style of calling games. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Not sports related at all, but 70s porn queen Marilyn Chambers (aka "The Ivory Snow Girl") was found dead yesterday too.
Just heard about Mark Fidrych myself. Apparently he was involved in some kind of accident at his farm, they found him dead under his truck. That's a shame.

| Former ASU football coach Bruce Snyder lost a 10 month battle with skin cancer today. As an ASU student, this one hurts a little bit more.
It's a bad of sports. At least the Navy SEALS took out those pirate bastards and saved the American cargo ship captain.

But Harry eventually won me over with his style of calling games. I'm working the Phillies game this Monday, part of the team's first homestand back from the road. It'll be weird not hearing his voice. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. But every one knows that voice!!! "It was a cold day at Minnesota's Met Stadium, as the Cowboys of Dallas rode into town. This was not to be any ordinary game. This was one were Drew Pearson would cheat and screw the organization for decades to come...."Yeah, dude was cool. RIP. |

Damn. I'm always on the internet, and usually watch Sportscenter on a pretty regular basis, but I missed this. I think I was working on my taxes for the most part that day. I lived in on the south side of Phoenix during ASU's big run in 1996. It was a very exciting time. My roommate was a huge Nebraska fan, and went to the game that ASU shut them out 19-0. That game more or less that it was going to be a very special season. One of my roommates used to run Danny Ainge's Hat stores, and Jake "The Snake" Plummer would always come in for hats. We would see him wearing them in interviews after the game. Of course, you had the great Pat Tillman on that team. It was truly a special time for ASU football. R.I.P. Bruce
