- "Psychopathy Red," the first new track from Slayer
since 2006's thrashterpiece Chr1st Illusion, will be available as a 7-inch vinyl disc beginning Saturday, April 18, 2009 as part of the third annual Record Store Day. Only 5,000 of these limited edition discs will be manufactured worldwide, and will be available exclusively at participating independent record stores - log onto www.recordstoreday.com for the list of participating stores.
The bl00d-red vinyl "Psychopathy Red" 7-inch collectors item will be packaged in a special Russian crime scene "evidence envelope," as the song was inspired by the heinous Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, aka the Rostov Ripper, who confessed to brutally mvrdering 56 chi1dren. The song was recorded by the band - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - in a Los Angeles recording studio last October. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

I wouldn't say that Christ Illusion was amazing, but it was a decent album. Far better than God Hates Us All, although that album had a few good tracks on it. But, each to their own I suppose... Looking forward to the new album. Psycopathy Red was an awesome track. | |

| Did not want to start a new thread so I bumped this one: Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo is planning on putting out a solo album next year – and it’s all about drums! “It will showcase a very different side of me,” Lombardo told Classic Rock. “If you’re a metalhead then you may not appreciate a lot of what’ll be on it. It’s really world music with an edge. And an opportunity for me to reveal a different side to my playing – much more avant-garde. “It won’t have any singing, or other instruments apart from drums and percussion. It’s my vanity project, I suppose. I’ve been working on it for a while, and hope to get it finished soon.” Right now, Lombardo and Slayer are in Australia on tour, with UK shows lined up for next month. And the drummer believes the band are better than ever. “I really think it’s getting easier for all of us to do this as we get older. That may sound crazy, but we know what we’re doing, and how to make the tour work on all levels.” One secret to Slayer’s longevity – they started in 1981, with the same line-up as today [Lombardo, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman] – is they have learnt how to get along with each other. “We’ve had our moments, but nothing as extreme as Metallica have had. I think we understand that washing your dirty laundry in public… well, nobody wants that to happen. It’s embarrassing. We concentrate on what this band is all about: the music and the performances. The rest of it is about being a prima donna, and that’s not us. We are four different people, and give each other the privacy and space we need.” Currently, the metal world is buzzing with the rumours of a possible tour featuring the celebrated ‘Big Four’ of thrash: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. But is it really feasible? Lombardo believes it could happen. “Why not? We all get along now, and if someone is prepared to put the effort into organising it, then I think it would be the ultimate metal experience for everyone, including the bands.” Slayer’s UK dates are: Nottingham Rock City November 18, Birmingham 02 Academy 19, Manchester Academy 20, Glasgow Barrowlands 22, Leeds Academy 23, London HMV Forum 25/26. * Slayer were forced to cancel a concert in Adelaide on Sunday (October 11) after frontman Tom Araya lost his voice on stage at Melbourne the previous night. Araya’s doctor diagnosed him with laryngitis and ordered him to rest. Slayer are due to perform at Perth’s Challenge Stadium tonight (October 13). Megadeth are supporting Slayer in Australia | |

| Did not want to start a new thread and here is some Slayer news: Slayer have released a letter to their fans updating them on the health status of guitarist Jeff Hanneman. In early 2011, the 48-year-old contracted necrotizing fasciitis -- a rare infection that attacks the skin and tissue -- after being bit by a spider. Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in for Hanneman since, performing with Slayer at various events, including last year's Big 4 shows in California and New York. Here is what the band wrote: "Slayer fans everywhere - it's time to let you know what is going on with our brother Jeff Hanneman. As you know, Jeff was bitten by a spider more than a year ago, but what you may not have known was that for a couple of days after he went to the ER, things were touch-and-go. There was talk that he might have to have his arm amputated, and we didn't know if he was going to pull through at all. He was in a medically-induced coma for a few days and had several operations to remove the dead and dying tissue from his arm. So, understand, he was in really, really bad shape. It's been about a year since he got out of the hospital, and since then, he had to learn to walk again, he's had several painful skin grafts, he's been in rehab doing exercises to regain the strength in his arm; but best of all, he's been playing guitar. We were all excited when he joined us onstage for the encore a year ago at The Big Four show at Coachella. Since then, we've given him all the time and support he's needed to continue his rehab so he can come back to the band fully recovered and able to deliver the kind of shows we all want him to. While Jeff's been doing some writing and has been coming to rehearsal over the past several weeks, he has decided he needs to take more time to continue his rehab. While we want him back onstage with the band, all of us support his decision. So, we're very grateful that Gary Holt will continue to fill in for Jeff, and will tour with us until Jeff completes his rehab and is ready to return. How long will that be? The best and most honest answer we can give you is 'as long as it takes.' We also wanted you to know that we've been doing some writing and recording for the next Slayer album - we've tracked a few songs, and will finish the album when we're off the road later this year. Gary will join us on tour in Europe and the UK in May and June, and then we'll all see you on this Summer's Mayhem Festival." | |

| Wow. Sounds way worse than I thought. Nasty stuff.
So what ever happened with Lombardo's all-drumming extraviganza? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Read that story yesterday, had no idea it was as serious as that. Glad Jeff is on the mend and hopefully he'll be back to full strength soon.
