He wanted to call the band Megadick, but the record label didn't like it because they were afraid people would think they were a Pro-Nixon band. So Dave changed it to Megadeth...but alas, this was in the years before Microsoft Word so he didn't notice that he spelled it incorrectly. |

| Ok, all you metallicats, are you familiar with Bleak House by Bleak House? If all of us happen to be longstanding metallica fans we're quite aware that as great as the band might have been in the 80's, their original sound wasn't so original. We know that Metallica had at least one album prior to Kill 'Em All...and, that was Diamond Head's Lightning To The Nations. They also had various singles here and there, in one incarnation or another. One was definitely Bleak House. You guys hear this flarkin thing yet. It's all new news to me, so I'm having fun with it right about now. You guys might have known for a while. But, it's all new news to me. It's Sanitarium, for cryin cripes sake! Check it if ya don't believe me. http://nwobhmbrasil.blogspot.com/2008/02/bleak-house-bleak-house-1980.html |

| Un momento, por favor. I thought that folks be jumpin' out they pants to give their two cents on the Metallica v. Bleak House comparison. Is it that this is all old hat to ya'll, or maybe you haven't heard this early version of Sanitarium. What gives? |

| This is kind of funny, because there is actually another riff that Metallica borrowed (for Welcome Home Sanitarium) from an L.A band, named Critical Mass. I've got the song on a boot called "Things That Should Not Be". The song by Critical Mass doesn't have a title, it only states that Metallica used their riff for the song Welcome Home Sanitarium. | |

Well, can't ya see the absurdity here, son? The likelihood of some band, any band, stealling two of the same riffs from two other bands to create one single song is just horribly unlikely, playa. Unless, the story is that one part of the tune was taken from one track, and the other part of the tune was lifted from another track. And, when combined, ya got your Sanitarium. Then, that's conceivable, right, punk? Otherwise, one of the bands is claiming some nonsense/BS allegation. Alls I know is that Metallica doesn't have half the credibility or originality I once thought them to have. After I heard Diamond Head's Lightning to the Nations, I knew that Lars and Co. had just stolen their way to the top. |

Have you heard a Chuck Berry record? AC/DC stole their way to the top too. What a talentless lot. |

| Aside from St. Anger, I have liked all of Metallica's career-be it some albums better then ever. I don't think they will ever again reach heights like Kill Em All or Ride The Lightning, but Death Magnetic is their best since Justice | |

| I used to be a big Metallica fan years ago. I don't listen to them much anymore, but I still respect what they did on the first three. I probably listen to the bands that inspired them more now. | |

| Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers will induct Metallica at the sold-out Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony Saturday, April 4th, at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. "It's cool that he's not in a heavy metal band but is a well-respected musician you might not expect," Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett told Billboard.com. Former bassist Jason Newsted will join the band that night and will "most likely" perform with the group," Hammett told About.com. "He put in 14 years with Metallica, so I think there's no reason for him not to be there," he said. Drummer Lars Ulrich told Billboard.com that the evening "will be like a family reunion — a whole big pile of people, lots of friends." The event will be televised live on Fuse and available online at www.fuse.tv. Joining the band as inductees are guitar legend Jeff Beck, Run-DMC, Bobby Womack, and Little Anthony & The Imperials. Metallica are first-time nominees, with the nomination coming 25 years after the release of the band's 1983 debut album, "Kill 'Em All." An act must be recording for a quarter century in order to be eligible. | |

| I was wondering what might happen with Jason Newsted showing up for this event. He's supposedly has been recovering after having being injured while attempting to catch a falling bass amp head. The accident resulted in a torn anterior labrum in his left shoulder and a rotator cuff and biceps tear in the right. That was over 2 1/2 years ago... He hasn't been seen since. I hope we see a healthy looking Jason Newsted, and I don't mean physically...
I've always kind of felt bad for Jason, as he was the guy replacing Cliff. Even though he had 14 years in the band, and Cliff only had the better part of 3 1/2 years, Jason was always in Cliff's shadow. Don't get me wrong, Cliff will always be the bassist of Metallica, but I don't think anything changed significantly from Jason's first day in that band up until the day he left the band. I remember reading in Metallica's fan club mag "So What" back in 1999 how Jason and Lars had a very distant relationship. I remember how many readers were shocked to find that out. They really had no relationship outside of the band. In fact, it seemed like Kirk was the only one in that band that ever seemed to reach out to Jason. Is it any wonder why Jason had so many side projects going on outside of that of Metallica??? James was shocked to hear that Jason was being credited for playing on Sepultura's "Roots" album. I guess when you stifle someone's creativity to the point where not only is his bass not heard on an album, but where his input is reduced to one writing credit per album, you have what can only amount to a dissatisfied musician.
It's funny how the "Some Kind of Monster" album came about. For the first time, it consisted of what was a total collaboration, including coming up with lyrics. This had been the thing that Jason Newsted had been wanting for a long time, and yet he never got to partake in it.
Hopefully this event will heal some old wounds... | |

| I think that it is cool that Metallica are not turning their inducation into the Rock N Roll Hall of Shame into a soap opera like other artist such as Blondie and Van Halen did, I am glad that the Metallica are acknowledging Jason Newsted contribution and importance to the band's history and I hope Ozzy and Sharon are taking notes on how to behave like a class act to former bandmates. | |

I was even glad to hear that they extended that invitation to Dave Mustaine as well. Supposedly Dave and the band will be doing a show on that same night outside of the country. Can you imagine Metallica Dave being onstage for "Whiplash" or "Seek & Destroy"??? Wow...talking about historical. Maybe someday... The Blondie thing and the Van Halen thing was a total joke. What a kick in the face to each fanbase. Thank God neither band is my favorite band. As much as I've liked Van Halen over the years, it's been hard to stomach Eddie's B.S over the past few years. Great guitar player, but he seems to be a total tool.

| Actaully, she's busy trying to figure out if she can accuse Metallica of ripping off any Ozzy riffs so she can sue them for royalties. |

You got that right. Flea? Hmmm, well, ok, whatever. I look foward to catching the high-lights on VH-1 Classic when they replay the crap out of it for a week straight. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
