I understand ya - As much as I love all those first five (And the Loads), I will have to say "...And Justice For All" ranks as my favourite Metallica, and probably favourite Heavy Metal album of all time - Mostly due to nostalgic value, being the first album I ever bought - Frayed Ends of Sanity is among my favourite Metallica tracks.

Of the early albums Justice is probably my least favorite (don't get me wrong, it's a great album), but part of the reason is that I hate the production.

I really like the Seattle concert video (from Live Sh*t) from the Justice tour, those songs sound a lot punchier live...especially the title track.

Agreed, that show is legendary.

The only thing about the production that bothers me, is that stupid noise that comes when you crank it up - It usually helps when you turn down the base on the stereo, but that's not really what you want, especially not on an album like Justice, haha. But what a phenominal album. Love Lars' drumming and drum sound too

Actually, the drum sound (specifically the kick drum) is one of the things that bothers me (along with the complete absence of Newsted)...there's a "clickity-click" sound to the kicks that just doesn't sound natural to my ears. More of a personal taste thing I suppose, I know quite a few people love the sound of that record.

I much prefer the mix on Master of Puppets, that's a great sounding Metallica record.

While that is a great mix, especially because the bass is fully audible, I always thought the drums were mixed a little too low - Nothing major, doesn't take much away from the overall enjoyment, but just a minor complaint.

I was thinking, why is it that you dislike them so much? Is it their music or their shift in music? I have always found Metallica's music to be extremely likeable and a great start if you want to explore the regions of Heavy Metal.

I have to agree with you on the dislike. I just recently begun to spin their first four again to see how I feel about them now.
