GREAT topic! The Simpsons has such a huge cast of secondary characters to choose from! Some of my favorites:

Troy McClure (who you may remember from such films as "The President's Brain Is Missing!" and "Dial M For Murderousness!"... man, I miss Phil Hartman)

Comic Book Guy (I collected comic books for fifteen years and can tell you from experience that the character is an EXTREMELY ACCURATE depiction of your average comic book store proprietor)

Apu ("who needs the Kwik-E-Mart? I.....doooooooo")

Sideshow Bob ("Why would I harbor any ill will against the boy who foiled my evil plans and doomed me to this URINE SOAKED HELL HOLE?")

Waylon Smithers ("You've been reading my wish book again, sir")

This is the best TV show ever!!!
I'm a huge fan of the Simpsons.

My favorite characters are :

Mr Burns - he is simply excellent...
Nelson Muntz - love his poster in his room (Nuke the whales!) ha haaa!
Fat Tony and all the guys from the Springfield mafia.

comic book guy - worst episode ever!
snake - buyyyyyyyeeeeeeee!

Comic book guy and Burns are HALAIRIOUS!!!

Apu hands down.

Oh, and MOE!! Can't believe he hasn't been mentioned yet.

Ralf Wiggums for sure.

He's my favortite.

I just read the funniest story about Phil, the guitar-player for Motörhead. Apparently he used to dress up like Mr.Burns, wearing a rubber mask, and walk around laughing like him. It was sort of a werid releif when touring got to him. And one time 2 reporters "caught" him doing this, laughed at him, and he got mortally offended!!
