Rob Halford Trademarks "Metal God" Name

Kudos to Brian Ashcraft at Kotaku.com for uncovering this little legal tidbit:

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has trademarked the "Metal God" name. According the report, the trademark was filed on January 11th, 2009 and covers "computer games, video games, and game controllers for computer games."

I could've sworn he trademarked that phrase years ago. Supposedly the movie "Rock Star" was originally going to be titled "Metal God," but the name was changed during production, supposedly due to threats of legal action from Halford.

Gene Simmons would try to trademark the use of oxygen if he could.

Dunno about that, but I do know that he trademarked the little "money bag" logo/artwork from the "Monopoly" board game when he found out it was un-claimed, and used it as the logo for his shortlived Simmons Records label back in the late 80s. Now anytime Parker Brothers prints up new Monopoly games, he gets a cut. Sneaky huh?

Good for Rob. I wonder if Sharon has trade-marked "Prince of Darkness" yet for Oz. I'm still waiting to hear back from my team of lawyers, but things are looking good for my legal rights to The Mighty Penis moniker.

The TWO project wasn't terrible, it was Rob Halford exploring another musicial direction, not a new career direction everyone band/artist has an oddball album in their discography, well every band but AC/DC that is.

Skunkworks is still very much a Hard Rock album at least...his vocal performance on that album is fantastic!

Halford made a complete departure from metal while Bruce just toned it down.

I owned it when it came out and i wanted to return it to the store the next day. I hated it and Rob was even saying stupid things like metal was dead... blah blah blah.

Alot of metal and Priest fans hated it, I personally like it but it is not an album I throw on to often, and I was very happy when Halford returned to his metal roots on his first solo album.
