Great punk band, great acoustic sound, with some of the funniest/disturbing lyrics of all time. I only have "Big Lizard in my backyard", but am going to get "Beelzebubba" and "Eat your paisley" soon.
Who else digs them?

Yeaaaah...but I thought they deserved another thread cuz the other one was just about their lyrics.

You only have one album? How do you know they're great?

Kids blow their load too soon.
By the way, there will be some killer Shock Totem news coming soon. It concerns the Dead Milkmen.

I've only ever had "Big Lizard..." and I still think they're great.

The first five albums are essential. Hit and miss after that. Their live album is top 5 all time live albums for me. I have seen them 3 or 4 times [memory hazy], and they are completely unpredictable in the live setting! And they are one of the few bands EVER that can completely crossover to fans of any genre. That is pretty special.

Man, I only find the last album to be a bit spotty. And even that one is pretty good. I absolutely LOVE Soul Rotation!

To me, Soul Rotation was the beginning of DM act II [I got that cd the day it was released. After the first listen I could tell something was different. Like they were trying to hard or something]. They seemed to have lost the vibe and were starting to re-hash some old ideas. Don't get me wrong. Their 90's output was still better than 99% of anything recorded during that decade. It just did not seem to stand up fully to the bar that DM had set for themselves in the 80's. And by then, there was some copy-catting going on that might have deluted my senses.

Act II. I can see that. It was more mature for them, that's for sure. But I think that album stands unique in their catalog. Not Richard, But Dick and Stoney's Extra Stout were more like the previous albums. Soul Rotation was something different altogether.
I really like Not Richard, But Dick, too. I think that one is underrated.

I love it how you have a problem with everything I say just because I'm 18. For the record, I've heard the first 4 albums I just own the debut at the moment.

Oh snap! This is gonna be good!
Anyway, I don't own any albums, but I like them. Funny stuff.

Can I ask what you did mean then?...cause to me it seemed as you were just picking a scrap for no reason like usual.

If you read on, you'd know what I meant. I was simply saying that you jumped the gun. But if you've heard the first four albums, then you didn't. Your words, though, made it appear you were declaring the band to be great having only heard one album.
Now, for the record, I don't "pick scraps." I don't incite flamewars or push buttons so I can start a fight online. I have better things to do with my time. However, I state my opinions very plainly and firmly. I take nothing away from anyone else's opinion, but I believe in mine. Don't take that sort of passion for me being all high-and-mighty. Second, 99% of the time I'm joking around. Just goofing off.

In high school we had this art class where there would be heated musical wars over who controlled the boom box. Funny thing was how angry it would get. Dead Milkmen were always a "keep the peace and everyone can be happy" choice to soothe over the differences.
Love the first five albums but for some unknown reason I never got anything after Metaphysical Graffiti. They just kind of fell off my music radar.

I have two albums on tape that I will need to update soon, Beezelbub and Big Lizard in My Big Yard, both classics and both funny as hell. They are a band that manages to be humorous and not fall into novelity act territory

They kind of lost me with Soul Rotation. Not Richard, But Dick was the next album I truly liked after the first four.Always felt it got slammed alot for nothing. Don't get me wrong, Soul Rotation has a few good songs, but Ive just never been to crazy about it.
