Falconer

Listening to this band after a long time (Chapters from a Vale Forlorn), and they still belong to those few modern power metal bands that I dig! Chapters is the only album that I've heard of them (although I first heard it 5 years ago, I never got anything else from this band), so I went to MM and NLTM and they aren't neither on one of these sites ?!?

I have only the debut album “Falconer” from them. It is a very good Power Metal album. I still have “Northwind” the album from last year on my wish list, because I listened to some samples some time ago. But I didn’t manage to get it yet…

I enjoy Falconer too. If you like Chapters, you'll like the self-titled album as well. The Scepter Of Deception was ok (not as good as the first 2 IMO) and Grime vs. Granduer just flat out sucks.

I've not heard the latest.

The first one is gold. I'm kind of indifferent to the rest.

I love all of them that I've heard (Northwind in on it's way right now it's the only one I don't have)
I even like Grime vs. Granduer - a lot!!

Excellent band indeed, have all the releases and I wouldn't say any of the CDs are bad, Chapters is my favourite of the lot.

It's interesting that 2 of the members come from Black Metal a background. Cool band-TJ

You mean Mithotyn ? yea I have their CDs too, I do like Falconer more though.

I have The sceptre of deception and Chapters from....
I like a little folk in my metal.
Another great band in that genre is Wuthering Heights from
Denmark. They have an awesome singer, Nils Patrik Johansson, also in Astral Doors.

Listening to Northwind right now. I can't believe how good this band is! If you like your Euro Powermetal just a bit more off the beaten track with great guitar tone and very smooth mid-range vocals, this band is for you!!

Northwind is great. And I agree that Grime vs Grandeur sucks. Big time. Different lead singer too. The guy from the first two albums came back for Northwind.

Since no new CDs came in the mail today, I may dig Northwind back out. I played that to death when I got it.

I think part of the reason is, it was my first Falconer. I had no preconceived ideas about Falconer, so I could enjoy it for what it is.

Agreed, the debut was so good that the rest have paled in comparison. I highly recommend the last Mithotyn album. It gets put i the Black Metal box but dont let that put you off, the guitar work is very melodic and the leads are awesome. More like Maiden meets early Amon Amarth.

The more I listen to Grime vs Grandeur the more I hate everyone who doesn't like it. Fools!!

I like all the Falconer releases but the ones with Blad are my favorite. The other guy suffered from the fact he was not blad and the music tried to fit the new vocal style. I like the non-blad albums for what they are but when compared to the blad cds they do fall short but are not terrible. You just have to spin them several times to appreciate them.
