Anyone remember this band? A side-project with members of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees. They put out one album, Above, which is like a soundtrack to tragedy. And that has nothing to do with the fact that two of its original members died from heroin overdoses. It's just a dark, brooding album. I love it. Underrated classic, in my opinion. One of the best to come out of that whole Seattle something-or-other.
Anyone else dig it?

Excellent one shot album from this band and I had hope that they would have continued to record more albums (like Stone Gossard's Brad project that recorded a few albums) but it was not to be.
It went platinum I believe when it was first released but almost seems like a forgotten classic now.

The first song was awesome. The rest of the album didn't grab me as much though.

Great album, from some very good talent in that period. It is a bit dark and depressive so it may fall under more of a mood piece but it is a sure classic. Very nostalgic for me.

I have it...liked it quite a bit in its time...even then as now it's "mood" music.

I haven't heard it since it first came out, didn't really stand out to me at the time but I was living in Seattle and was COMPLETELY burnt out on that scene.

That must have sucked. Couldn't have been worse than when 12-year-olds started wearing ICP shirts and shouting to me at the mall, "Much clown love, Juggalo! Woop woop!"
I shiver.

Yeah, I was working at a used CD store (while attending college) so I had to put up with all those 12 year olds on a daily basis.
The cats that used to dress up like vampires and buy Dead Can Dance albums were a hoot though...

I didn't get the Mad Season record until i heard a song on the radio when Staley died. I was already a big AIC fan previously.

I remember my roommate owning this disc when it came out and at the time I was anti-ANYTHING Seattle/grunge related so I immediately dismissed it as shite. I've since backed-up on that stance and judging by some of the comments and clips, I might have to track this one down. I like depressing music.

I picked this up today for .99 cents. It's pretty awesome. If I was gonna heat up some black tar heroin, shoot it between my toes and nod out, this would be the music I'd want playing in the background. This is some dark, depressing mood music for sure.
