| The guy was born in 1941 or 2, when he started singing professionally rock music was still in its infancy and heavy metal had been born yet. | |

| RJD is the Dick Clark of heavy metal. The man doesn't show his age. |

| Dio is so metal that any hair style he chooses to wear instantly gets a two devil horns up salute. | |

| I have all of RJD music since 1957 & I'm surprised he never made it big before Rainbow. He could have hits in the 50's early Rock era. Some of the Elf's singles during the 60's had hit potential. Have you heard the live stuff they did around 70'? "war Pigs" Tull etc. Great band! The man paid his dues, It only took eighteen years between his his 1st recording & Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow s/t album. I wonder if Ronnie had a hit record or broke through with one of his other bands earlier in his carreer if it would have changed everything as we know it. | |

Wow! Good question. He could be known as the Do-wop King or Little Run-Around Ronnie!! Instead, he's one of thee Fathers of metal. I'm so glad.

| This is actually pretty interesting and cool to think he was doo-woppin' on singles back in the FIFTIES. Wow. Not a bad song either, I can dig some of that 50s stuff. | |

I'm a HUGE Doo Whop fan, because I have a Father who had a HUGE stash of 45's/33's. I think that even if I wanted to not partake in his love for this era, it would've been very difficult. He never forced me to listen to that type of music, but he was the type of Father who would just lie down on the living room floor (on a Saturday or Sunday), listen to his music, and then transport himself back to the day where he was listening to this music with his friends. As his son at an early age, I can remember him singing to a great many of tunes, and for whatever reason, I thought this man to be even cooler than he already was. I always thought that, had I not grown up in the 70's/80's, I would've loved to experience the 50's and the early 60's. Music for all intents and purposes has been a video for my life. Friends laugh at me when I can take a song, and place it with an event in my life. For me though, that's just the norm... As good as Ronnie sounded with the group, and as much as I like that whole genre, I'm glad Ronnie found his path to metal. I simply can't imagine a world without the "Devil Horns"...

This is the site where all the songs can be found.............
Ronnie sounds great on the official Elf recordings IMO. 3 lp's/cd's in total. Boogie, piano drivin Rock & Roll, not metal or even hard rock, Just good music.

Or admits it. He insists that he is only in his early 50s though most believe he is in his mid 60s

This is impossible and would make him too young to have been in some of those bands.

Metalinmyveins, I grew up in the same enviroment. While I wouldn't consider myself a fan of the genre, I'm pretty familiar with it, having listened to it all the time as a kid. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

As Candlemass stated Elf's age differently than other types of homosapiens.
