| Are there any Steely Dan fans here? I became a big fan in high school in the 80's. The only station that played metal occasionally here in El Paso was also our classic rock station, and Steely Dan was featured frequently. I am a fan of their instrumental skills and their song writing. Some of my metal friends were not too fond of them... I had a friend that would tell me they were too "Jazzy". But, for my money, "Aja" is still one of the best "headphone" discs out there... especially if you have an old phono player and a set of those nice, big helicopter-style headphones. Sweet. | |

| Yep. I like The Dan. I have the Citizen Dan box set. I also like Donald Fagan's "Karmakiriad" album. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Never could get into this band. Obviously talented musicians, but they just never really did much for me. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I think it's hilarious that the band took its name from a certain model of marital aid. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Yeah, I like most of his other movies, but that one was just terrible. The book I was never really a fan of either, just not too crazy about the story, but its been a long time since I even attempted reading it. | |

| The secret guitar weapon in Steely Dan's arsenal was Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, primarily a studio guitarist he was on an almost countless number of albums during the 70's.
I'm also a Steely Dan fanatic, one of the few "jazz rock" bands that actually worked. Absolutely timeless songs too.
My favorites are "Fire In The Hole" and "Any Major Dude Will Tell Ya" |

Yep, from "Naked Lunch" by William Burroughs. One of the worst books & Movie Ive ever had the misfortune of coming across. I've heard that, but I wasn't sure if that was just an urban legend. Pretty funny. Not really a fan of the band though. I tried to read Naked Lunch back when I was in art school, but couldn't get through it. I did recently find my near-mint paperback copy and sell it on ebay. And with that money I purhased some more cd's. So thank you for that, Mr. Burroughs. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.
