| A vinyl related story... Since getting a turntable for Christmas, I've been looking in the used bins at my local shop for hidden vinyl gems. As I'm going through, I find an copy of a Quiet Riot album that has 4 signatures scrawled on it. And it's only $10 bucks!! Cha-ching!! A Kevin DuBrow autographed Quite Riot album!! Sweet!! Upon further inspection, however, I realize that it's their s/t QR album with Paul Shortino. No Kevin signature. Oh well. | |

| I like vinyl and have been buying it a lot. I have noticed that vinyl is making a come back somewhat within thrash. Some newer bands like Merciless Death and Avenger of Blood have their stuff on vinyl. But it seems that vinyl has always been popular within black metal as someone said before. I know the band Moonblood only issued their stuff on vinyl and cassettes. |

yeah but vinyl has better sound than cd or mp3 ever has whereas video was worse than dvd so of course video would not come back. i like vinyl. i enjoy the intimacy of it

I even would have traded one of my prized Debbie Gibson CDs for it. |

| vinyl IS the Metal way of listening this music. I hardly buy any CDs, only vinyls and if the bands doesn't press their album on vinyl they can Smurf off. Sad but true | |

| I don't doubt you guys about the sound quality of vinyl but I am already so invested in CDs, I just don't have the time or the money to devote to it (hell, I barely have the money to devote to CDs). | |

| Never really understood the attraction of vinyl since CD's came out. For me when I buy an album I want good production and the best sound the band can get. Vinyl just sounds so rough and raw. I've had conversations with people on this subject before who say they like the raw sound vinyl produced. Not me. | |

| There is a big difference between analog and digital, the simplest way to describe it is "warmth". Anolog "captures" sound and digital "copies" it. Ask any guitar player about tubes versus solid state, you will more than likely get a similar analogy ? A album in good shape with decent equipment always sounds better than cd. Try it with good headphones and you'll see what I mean. Laterz | |

| ROUGH AND RAW IS THE LAW OF METAL [/quote] WHY!!! Why does does a metal albm sound better with a raw sound. If I wanna hear a band in the raw I just go and see them live, much better feeling from the music than listening to a vinyl that sounds like it was recorded in someones garage on home made instruments. | |

The cool thing in my opinion about those old METALLICA, SLAYER, RUNNING WILD, STORMWITCH or GRAVE DIGGER albums is the rough and raw sound. Just my opinion. I respect yours of course.

| Ultramangus I would have been of your opinion up to about 3-4 months ago but for my aforementioned "accident" of listening to Holy Diver in my garage. It sounded SO awesome!! My record player is 30 years old and the record is old and rough and yet it sounded SO good. That word - warmth - is so true. I have Dio stuff on Cd and the riffs sounded so much "bigger" and "beefier" on that record player. Don't know why except for what James B. explained. | |
