| By the way, most of the first "F13" was filmed about an hour from where I live now, at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, a Boy Scout camp in Blairstown, New Jersey. I've never been there but my Dad went there during his scouting days in the '50s. It really tripped him out when he saw the movie in the early '80s, because it still looked essentially the same as when he went there twenty-some-odd years previously. Occasionally I pass the exit for Blairstown on Route 80 and I still whisper the F13 "ki-ki-ki, ma-ma-ma" noise to myelf. One of my friends also went to No-Be-Bo-Sco when he was a scout (while we were in Junior High) and I remember him tellling me that some of the counselors wore "Camp Crystal Lake Staff" t-shirts while he was there (this was only three or four years after the movie had been released) and that the "Welcome To Camp Crystal Lake" sign seen in the movie was hanging on the wall of the dining hall. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

The Friday site does a pretty good job of following up on former location shoots. Here is an update on the camp. That's cool that you're near the location. I've thought about taking a road trip out there sometime because of the camp, that and the fact that I really dig the east coast. http://www.fridaythe13thfilms.com/bts/locations/part1.html

| Haha, it would be a cool place to visit. There's a kiddie amusement park in Hope (next town over from Blairstown, where they shot some of the film too) called "Land of Make Believe" that we keep talking about taking the kids to someday, if that happens I'm SO gonna make a side trip to Camp Crystal Lake. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

In terms of the camp, it says on the website that access is possible, but usually only during the off season. Who knows if they've had problems with people perusing around the camp when they have kids during the summer. I'm sure that some of the Friday fans with the extra chromosomes might take things a little bit too far. We certainly don't need any distressed little campers wetting their pants at night.

Yea, I'm sure. There was a story in Metal Maniacs a couple of years ago where one of the writers went to the camp but he made sure to mention that he had permission to be there, and warned that others who trespass on camp property will be prosecuted. I also read somewhere that Kane Hodder (aka Jason) wanted to visit the camp while he was in the area shooting parts of "Jason Takes Manhatttan" but his car got stuck in the mud near the entrance and the local cops had to come rescue him!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Since the 2nd movie is my favorite, I thought I would also post the link for its location. Pretty much everything has survived over the years, with the exception of the casino (where many of the counselors went for the night). It burned down, so the locations looks totally different. Other than that though, it looks like another place to visit if I'm ever stomping around Connecticut. http://www.fridaythe13thfilms.com/bts/locations/part2.html | |

| I think that the re-boot of F13 looks interesting, I will certainly be there when it opens. I love the series a lot my favorite is VI, I love when Horeshack gets his heart ripped out. The one that I've seen the most though out of the entire series has been part V, I don't know why, but it just seems that I always catch that one. So needless to say I kind of have a love for part V. Part V has that hot new wave/punk chick Violet, all she wanted to do was dance. Earlier you guys were talking about the little kid's cousin Demon who is played by Miguel Nunez Jr., him and Thom Mathews, who played Tommy Jarvis in Part VI were in another fantastic horror movie together from 1985...Return of the Living Dead. That is a classic zombie flick.
Anyway back on topic, I'm excited just to see a new Friday anything, just like I was excited to see a new Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The new Friday is actually produced by Michael Bay, who produced the TCM remake and the prequel.

| Also Paramount needs to stop being such cheapskates and release the series in there original uncut form, all unrated and with special features. I thought that the box set that they released a few years back would have had a lot of special features, but it didn't deliver like it should have. The Nightmare on Elm Street box set had fantastic special features, they should have taken notes. But New Line Cinema is the company that released NOES and they are also the new company that bought F13 sooo maybe soon, we will get a version of the series that we've always wanted. :goodluck: | |

That would be sweet indeed, but unfortunately Paramount still owns the first eight films. The shift to New Line Cinema only involved the rights to use the Jason character in future films, not the previous movies. Apparently Michael Bay's company (which is producing the remake) had to get permission from Paramount to use certain story elements from the earlier movies in the new film. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I totally agree with this. Paramount supposedly rushed this box set. It was supposed to have a lot more. It's as if Paramount is trying to wash their hands of this series. It's pretty sad that Paramount treats the Friday series so bad. Friday the 13th was the 2nd highest grossing movie of the summer next to that of "The Empire Strikes Back" in 1980. All the sequels did very well also, consiering how low the budgets were. Though I feel that it's important to see the movie in their unedited state, I'm a big fan of commentaries. I was disappointed to see that there was only one commentary for the first four movies. Supposedly Amy Steel (who played Ginny) & Steve Miner were on board to do the commentary for part II, and Paramount basically stated that this box set already contained enough material. Supposedly commentaires are very cheap to produce, so there's absolutely no reason for this. Adrienne King (Alice from the first flick) has always supported the franchise. Are you telling me that it wouldn't have been possible to get her and Sean Cunningham (director), and maybe even Betsy Palmer (Pamela Voorhees) in there at the end of the film to talk about the film??? I'm sure Corey Feldman, and some others associated with the 4th film would've put together a commentary as well. I'm not as concerned about seeing the killings that were edited out so that these movies were able to obtain an 'R' status, but they should be in the next box set if/when they issue one. The only killing that was left on the cutting room floor that they ended up using in the box set was when (Chili) in part III had the hot fire poker inserted into her abdominal area. In the original it just showed the insertion of it, but in the edited version it shows the poker out the other end of her. That was actually used. Probably the biggest scene that was left on the cutting room floor was the original ending to part III. Dana Kimmel's character Chris is dreaming while lying in the boat after having supposedly killing Jason. While dreaming (though we supposedly don't realize that she is) she hears Rick's voice (her dead boyfriend) coming from the cabin. She gets back to shore, and runs into the cabin, only to see Jason standing there (head wound and all). Jason ends up chopping off her head, and she then wakes up. I don't really care about the gore factor of this piece of edited film, but for the life of me, I can't understand why an alternate ending wasn't issued in the last box set. I'm sure once the newest installment comes out in February, Paramount will probably fully understand the error of their ways, and realize how important the legacy of this franchise is in regards to the first four films. I wouldn't be surprised to see Paramount get their act together and give the first four films a little more justice. First and foremost, they need to round up some people from the three films ( I, II, IV) that they didn't have commentaries for, and do it right this time. First of all, I would like to hear what John Furey (who played Paul Holt in Part II) has to say regarding what really happened to his character. We're to assume Jason killed him, but we never did see the killing. Supposedly Mr. Furey had walked off the set towards the end of shooting, and that's why the ending is so vague. It would be nice to hear someone set the record straight.

| I just ordered a book yesterday called Making Friday the 13th: The Legend of Camp Blood that looks very promising. It contains stuff on all the movies rare pics and interviews and the like, I can't wait until it shows up. There is also another book that looks fantastic, but too expensive called Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th. Have you read any of these books? If so are they any good? I would think that they were. | |

Funny enough, I own neither of these books, even though I consider myself a Friday fan. I'm certainly no uber fan, but that's because I think the series has gone into the proverbial toilet since the 4th movie. I think there are some interesting elements in some of the later installments, but for the most part I hate the direction they've gone in. It's gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. My thought is this, at least there are still the first 4 to go back on. The biggest problem with the series has been the switch in writers for every movie, which ultimately has screwed up the continuity in the series. That has been an ongoing issue from the end of the 2nd movie up until the last. If I were the next person to write about the series, I would scrap everything from Friday The 13th Part VI on. I would just say that everything that has happened since the end of Part V has been in Tommy Jarvis mind. I would try and tie the surviving characters together from Part II, III, IV if at all possible, and if not I would just stick with the Tommy Jarvis character, and maybe even his sister Trish. I'm sure Corey Feldman would get involved with this type of project, and if not, then breathe some life back into Amy Steel's acting career. She was easily my favorite female Friday lead.

Rumor is that the Pamela Voorhees scenes are for all intents and purposes being edited out. I guess those scenes didn't test well with audience members this past summer. If you're trying to tell the story of Friday The 13th through that of Part III, I don't know how one is being that honest to the original flick. Rumor also has it that there is a kidnapping scene by our boy Jason. I'm not sure how well that will go over with fans? He's always been pretty one dimensional, which is basically that of a killing machine. I'm all for giving him a little more of a storyline, as long as it's not to over the top.

| FatFreddy... We were talking about "V" previously in this thread, and rumor also has it that it's in pre-production (IMDB). Robert Englund and Mark Singer are on the project. I think there is a little bit of a read up on there regarding where Earth stands these days with the Visitors still inhabiting our planet. | |
