When I was in grade school, one of my friends had an older sister who worshiped Darryl Hall and John Oates. Peace.

You a rich girl and you've gone to far but you know it don't matter anyway...you can rely on your old man's money, you can rely on your' old man's money...

One of the first 45 records I ever owned was that song.

I never cared for them, but I remember them being pretty popular for a while. I saw them on Saturday Night Live back in the day

I have an album called "War Babies' of theirs. It was produced by Todd Rundgren and was actually sort of...aw, never mind.

There really isn't much that I don't like from their catalog. They just had very catchy songs, which were emblematic of what was popular on the radio in the 70's & 80's. I respect them very much for having sustained a career as long as they have. They are one of those groups that had carte blance to go in whatever direction they wanted after their hit parade from 1976-1990. Probably my favorite song from them is "Method of Modern Love" or "Everything Your Heart Desires".

Great duo!

Not a fan outside of a few of their singles, and I believe they were the most successful duo in rock (are they rock?) history.

They fall under "Rock And Roll" as much as Simon & Garfunkel or The Temptations, I guess...LOL!

They had a Rock edge to thier stuff in the mid/late 80s...I've always considered them Pop Rock.

Speaking of Hall & Oates, I happen to catch the show Z-Rock on occasion, which can be seen on Direct T.V on the 101 or IFC. I never knew that Daryl Hall had acting chops, but he showed them in this episode, in which he was absolutely hilarious!

Laughing very hard Back in the day a lot of folks "wondered" about these guys. Must've been Oates' 70s ghey-porn mustache.

I remember my cousin having the 45 of 'Rich Girl' and we giggled like the little kids we were when we heard the word b*tch.

My buddy's band used to do an amped up cover of 'You Make My Dreams'.

A coupla years ago, I sat at the same long table with John Oates during a press club meal at work. I believe he was working with the band that was performing the national anthem that night. Didn't recognize him at the time because he lost that awesome mustache. It wasn't till we were done when another guy said to me "Dude we just ate dinner with Oates!!".

RIP

Hall and Oates Bassist Tom 'T-Bone' Wolk Dead at 58

Hall and Oates T-bone-wolk-200ak030110-1267462761T-Bone Wolk, who played bass with Hall and Oates on their many hits in the early 1980s, died Saturday of a heart attack, according to the Huffington Post. Born Thomas Wolk, the musician -- who was also a regular alongside guitarist G.E. Smith in the 'Saturday Night Live' band for years -- was 58 years old.

Wolk began playing with Daryl Hall and John Oates during the recording of their chart-topping 'Private Eyes' album in 1981 and went on to become the group's musical director. T-Bone first earned the duo's attention for his efforts on Kurtis Blow's gold-certified rap single 'These Are the Breaks' earlier in that year.

A multi-instrumentalist, Wolk also played guitar and accordion and worked with the likes of Billy Joel, Robert Palmer, Paul Carrack, Cyndi Lauper, Jellyfish, Elvis Costello and Shawn Colvin, among others, in his accomplished career. As a producer, the New York native also worked with Willie Nile on 1991's 'Places I Have Never Been.'

Wolk continued to perform actively up until his death, playing with Hall and Oates during promotional efforts for their box set 'Do What You Want, Be What You Are.' He also played with Hall for his series of online performances known as 'Live From Daryl's House.'
