| I was going thru some old VHS tapes, and ran into I recorded years ago 100 greatest hard rock bands that was aired on VH1, Quiet Riot was listed at 100, I saw other threads regarding Kevin Dubrow's death, Rehab cd reviews etc, but I did not find one on the legacy of the band. Anyone out there a fan of the band, what do you feel is there most lasting legacy? I have fond memories of the band and I saw them opening up for Iron Maiden on " Piece of Mind " tour in 83, while they did not exactly blow Maiden off stage they did more than hold their own. I may go thru the threads see how many of the bands that VH mentioned have been covered.

| I love QR. They are the band that got me into metal and I have followed them ever since 1983. Unfortunately, not alot of us took them seriously, just like alot of people don't take Twisted Sister seriously. I'll be listening to them til I die.
On a side note, manny you may remember 2 summers ago, QR played Gasperilla in Tampa and I opted not to go and I am kicking myself to this day for not seeing that show. I'll never see them live. |

| I saw alot of QR shows in the 70's from the alley door of the Starwood. Besides the show I metioned in another thread (US 83'), my only other concert experience with them was opening for ZZ top, July of 83' at The Alladin Theater in Vegas. ZZ top was great, but QR still had that bar band thing going off in a really really kewl way. I still enjoy listening to Metal Health, but for me that was really it. I don't have anything afterwards. I have had the two 70's lps since before Metal Health was released and I enjoy them more. QR and Metal health deserve a legacy of some-sorts just due to the fact that they put metal / hard rock up to that next level. Ya know, they got the ball rolling, so to speak. | |

| I regret not seeing them a few years ago at Gasperilla, but the thought of hanging out with rich yuppies who can't handle their booze on our poor man's version of Mardi Gras was more than I was willing to endure at the time, but now I wish I had gone, I could have endured stepping over some of the causalities in order to see Quiet Riot, if only I had known I would not get another chance to Cum on Feel the Noize one last time. | |

| James B, that is really cool you saw them at the Starwood with Randy Rhoads on guitar, only thing that could top that is if you invented a time machine and saw Jimi Hendrix or The Doors in 1967, very cool memory James thanks for sharing. | |

I was still pretty young. around 14 or so. I was playing with these older guys in a biker bar band from San Bernardino and occasionaly they'd venture out on The Basin to play gigs. When I wasn't playing onstage, my butt had to be outside. So the owners wouldn't get any grief for having a minor on the premisies.

| Great Band---unfortunately... they are only slightly behind Def Leopard on the "tragedy list"... they suffered some tought times... Just hard line up changes and now Kevin...
Anyway==when I think of QR I think of three things: 1. Randy Rhoads--among the greatest guitarist ever... 2. Metal Health---while Com'on Feel the Noize" Got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over played!!!!!! It was a great album! 3. Man they put on a great show that year (metal health) in Indy, with Rudy Sarzo and the boys!
Haven't followed them much in recent years.

| Yes, I like them a lot. I even like QR '88 w/ Shortino on vox. I have vivid memories of being 9 years old and getting Metal Health on cassette at my birthday party from one of my classmates. Also, who can forget the video for Metal Health w/ KD fighting the giant stereo in his room. Whenever someone makes the Spinal Tap reference of "but, these go to 11," the QR video is what comes into my mind's eye. Peace. | |

| I've always liked this band too. I saw them for the first time opening for Black Sabbath back in '83. Seems from the above posts that they were a pretty common opening act back then. Saw them twice more over the years, Kevin's hair was always kind of a joke but I always enjoyed their shows. I had the chance to see them last year late summer or spring but decided I didn't want to do the short road trip to one of the casinos outside of town. Wish I had now.
Several years ago I had the chance to see Stevie Ray Vaughan with Jeff Beck, I had decided not to go because it involved close to 300 miles of driving. My wife (girl friend at the time) convinced me to go. Glad I did, never got the chance to see him again.
Sadly this seems to happen all to often.

| QR was the very first band I ever saw live [opened for Greg Kihn, Joan Jett, and Loverboy]. Great memory.
Paul Shortino is one of my top three fav singers, so you can guess which is my fav QR album. But I really like EVERYTHING they did in the 80's. Dubrow's solo album from a few years ago was unlistenable. |

Dubrow's solo album from a few years ago was unlistenable. I'm just the opposite. I'm not much of a fan of QR other than a Greatest Hits cd I own, but I really like Kevin's solo disc, In For The Kill, covering some 70's classics. I can listen to that one over and over again.

| Quiet Riot was a great live band, I only saw them live once, opening for Iron Maiden back in 1983. Great show, a lot of fun and also weird to see to bands so different on the same bill. | |

| Quiet Riot was an important part of metal history being the original band of Randy Rhoads and the first metal band to ever hit #1 on the radio. | |

| Former QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali has posted the following message on his MySpace blog:
"In January 2008 I was approached by the talent agency that books the artists that appear on the Meat Loaf-hosted 'Rock And A Hard Place' music game show for DIRECTV's channel The 101 Network. They asked me to put together a three person group to appear on the game show. My first reaction was to make sure that they were aware that Kevin DuBrow had passed away in November 2007 just two month prior to receiving this request. They explained that they were aware of Kevin's passing and offered their condolences, but still wanted to know if I would put something together for the appearance. My first question was to know the object of doing the show. They informed me of the show's format and that the winning dollar amount would be donated to a charity of my choice. That being the case I made sure that they understood that if I were to agree they would have to bill it as the 'QUIET RIOT ALLSTARS' rather that just as QUIET RIOT. I told the agency that I would have to get back to them with my decision.
"I gave careful consideration to what sort of a QUIET RIOT ALLSTARS lineup I would put together. At no time did I consider including the so-called 'Metal Health' lineup for this appearance. This was based on many reasons but the most obvious ones were the great deal of speculation and fanning of the fires for QUIET RIOT to continue with a singer to replace Kevin. That was not an option or a consideration on my part from the moment that Kevin passed away and I still feel that way. I did not want to give anyone the impression that this could be the precursor to a reunion.
"The obvious choice would have been to have longtime QUIET RIOT bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi, both who were in the last live versions of QUIET RIOT, to do the show with me. Kevin loved working with both Chuck and Alex, as I did, but unfortunately they were both going to be on the road with HOOKERS 'N' BLOW at the time of the taping of the show.
"I decided to have two of the best musicians and friends that I know do the show with me. Bassist Tony Franklin and guitarist/engineer Neil Citron, both of whom recorded the last QUIET RIOT studio release 'Rehab', which was Kevin's favorite QUIET RIOT record after our 'Metal Health' release. Tony Franklin's musical pedigree speaks for itself as does Grammy Award-winning recipient Neil Citron's qualifications as 'allstars' on their own as well as having recorded with QUIET RIOT, hence the title 'QUIET RIOT ALLSTARS' as the marquee title for this appearance.
"The most important factor in my decision to do this show was my ability to designate the American Cancer Society as the recipient of the shows winnings. This is a cause that is important to me, having lost both of my parents to cancer as well as many other family members and friends. You will have to watch the show to see if we were successful in that endeavor!
"The show was filmed on April 9, 2008 and premiers on November 25, 2008 with recurring airings."

| I would consider myself a fan. I own all of their stuff, as well as Kevin's solo stuff. I had an opportunity to do an interview with Kevin at one time, not that long after Rehab came out, but things fell apart. Arttie | |
