My mother used to describe Kix as "bubblegum metal"...which actually works pretty well as a description.

Just got this one, and I liked it way more than I thought I would. Huge hooks (as is the norm for these guys it seems), and on the second half of the album, the harder rocking quotient picks up quite a bit.
Yeah the hooks are huge...it's unlike any album i've heard. It's a great new wave/hard rock/power pop crossover that's totally unique...the only thing i've heard similar is Candy's Whatever Happened To Fun (1985).
OK, I could be way out in left field here, but wasn't there some kind of connection betweeen Candy and the Electric Angels (another band which I've wanted to grab for awhile).
Regardless if I'm wrong or not, a new wave/hard rock/power pop crossover is a pretty accurate description of 'Cool Kids'
Most defiantely Candy and the Electric Angels are basically the same band save for the singer.
The Electric Angels then morphed into the Loveless.
All three are the same band basically guided by the songwriting guru bassist Jonathan Daniel.
All the stuff is out of print and command insane amounts of money...which is a shame because that one/three band(s) is one of the greatest rock n' roll bands ever!

Here is a link to some Kix news regarding new live cd
In fact it would be later noted that Poison copied their entire shtick from Kix, and merely added women’s clothing, poor musicianship and lame songs.

Freddy, Ginger's blog on Classic Rock Magazine site are always a fun read, also you should check out his band Wild Hearts, I think you'll like his band take on the sleeze rock genre.

The Wildhearts are great! One of the bands that got me into the genre.

I've been hearing/reading raves about the Wildhearts for years. Never had the chance to check'em out tho.

I had one of their discs years ago (Earth vs. The Wildhearts I think it was), but it didn't do much for me and I got rid of it. I wonder if I heard it now, my opinion would change.

Like if Lemmy hacked the top of your skull off with a rusty chainsaw and poured pixie stix on your brain, if you don't groove to this the Wildhearts can't help you..........
