Now you're friends. I coulda went that route, but I wanted you to feel needed. Kinda like when John & Paul let Ringo sing "Octopus' Garden".

| "Don't Close Your Eyes" still gives me goose bumps. I love how it doesn't follow the verse chorus verse template. When it sort of skips that second chorus and goes into the "hold on, hold on tight" part, the hairs raise on my arms. It's just such a great, unexpected transition. I love it. |

| Kix great live band that never got their due, they got labeled a hair/pop metal band but they really did not fit that mold, they more like a modern day Cheap Trick, than a Poison or whoever they were being compared to, also slightly head of their time since their first album was released in 1981. Midnight Dynamite excellent album, and the singal off that album " Cold Shower" should have ruled the airwaves. " Cool Kids" used to own on vinyl, I no longer own it and it has been several years since I last heard it, I may have order it from Amazon today. | |

- Does anyone remember or own the side project that I believe was put together by the 2 guitarists from Kix? It was called the Slimmer Twins, a play on Glimmer Twins (nicknames for Mick & Keith of the Stones). I've never heard it myself, in fact, I don't know if they ever even released a cd. I think it was supposed to be a more laid-back Rolling Stones kinda rock album.
Anyone? Their great...they feature Jeremy from one of the best rock n' roll bands going around, The Blessings.

| Kix will always be an all-time favorite for me. As detuned mentioned, if you lived in Maryland these guys were the local heroes. Saw them live countless times. My favorite memory of seeing them was when they would have a yearly concert at this near-by high school's outdoor ampitheater. Child's Play opened. It was the event of the fall. Several of us would dangerously race from our soccer game to the show in order to snag good seats. Can't listen to Blow My Fuse without thinking of the beginnings of the fall chill and how awesome that show was. At that time "Don't Close Your Eyes" was starting to get serious radio play and it seemed like the local guys were going to take the world. And they should've.
Cool Kids would be my least loved of their stuff, but still it is pretty great. My 25th Anniversary tour shirt is one of my most worn and prized pieces of clothing.

| Unfortunately WV was a little too far out of the way for us. We would always talk about going up to the Speedway shows (I think you said you were from Hagerstown) but never did. Mainly we'd see them at Hammerjacks (had these incredible fake Ids we got at this photo studio down a Baltimore alley), a barn like place called the Stardust, a smaller venue whose name I can't remember in Annapolis that had a real small stage, and the beloved ampitheater shows.
I always see the Shiley Acres shows as bootlegs and think about getting them.

I was reminiscing about that place the other day. Put a stage on a farm, put up a chain link fence, and you have Shiley Acres. You could bring all the booze you wanted into the show as long as it was not in glass bottles. I saw Warrant there, Kingdom Come was supposed to open but they ended up not playing. Being a giant Kix fan I never really gave Cool Kids much of a listen outside of For Shame. I've seen them countless times. I remember grunge was starting to come into vogue and rock was on its way out I took several friends of mine to a club show on the Hot Wire tour. No one was really interested in going but I told them that I would personally refund their money if they didn't enjoy the show. I didn't pay out a cent. Steve Whiteman is the ultimate frontman.

| Whiteman really could have made it as a comedian. His wise-ass stage banter was always hysterical. Plus it always seemed like he was having too much fun. No way you couldn't have a good time at their shows. That never changed even with all the record company politics and financial shenanigans they were going through. | |

| I was in a typical circuit band a long time ago... While doing the tri-state thang, Kix was the cream of the crop in that region. Only played a same bill on the same evening perhaps 3 or 4 times ? The other members enjoyed the Florida and Southern Tx circuit better during spring break and we only went there three times in the two and a half years I played with them. Think it's time to dig into the boxes of vinyl that havn't seen much table time and get busy. Know fer sure that have at least 4 or 5 lps by these guys. | |

I always see the Shiley Acres shows as bootlegs and think about getting them. I moved all around the tri-state area during that time, but mostly I was based near Winchester VA. So Shiley Acres was about a 15 minute drive...Hagerstown about 25 minutes...Baltimore about an hour and 15 minutes. Thinking back I think I saw them at Shiley Acres at least 4 times, Hammerjacks twice, Slammers in Martinsburg WV once, Cumberland MD racetrack and a couple gigs around Hagerstown that I was too drunk to remember. I was also a huge fan of Wrathchild during that time (they hadn't released an album yet) and they often opened for Kix. It was kind of fascinating watching them morph from a straight-ahead hard rock band into the tongue-in-cheek power metal band they became. In fact, Wrathchild wrote the album 3-D at Slammers nightclub in Martinsburg (dubbed Kenny's Garage in the liner notes)...my best friend was living behind the club in a trailer at that point...so we used to go over and watch the band work on the new material quite often. Those were such fun days...you're only really young once. |

| Blow My Fuse is one of my favourite albums in my collection. I've only owned '...Fuse' and 'Midnight Dynamite' and love 'em both - just put in an order for the s/t, Cool Kids and Hot Wire (the band has always been on my 'to buy' list, so I figured it's time to beef up the discography a bit ). Obviously never had the chance to see 'em live - wish I did. | |

| I saw WRATHCHILD, shortly before they signed with Atlantic...they were absolutely killer....and theyre one guitarist so high he was a drooling mess, but he played flawlessly...which is something... Who the hell did I see them with, Waylon? I think so.... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| Speaking of Wrathchild, I believe Brad Divens of Wrathchild filled in on Kix' COOL KIDS album for Brian Forsythe, who had briefly left the band. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I had mentioned that a while back, but I thought it was Ronnie Younkins he replaced...could be remembering it wrong, haven't owned a copy of Cool Kids in many years. |

Nice riff. I like the verse but the chorus sucks Miss Crazy kick ass, though. Definitely not one of the better tunes. They should have just covered "Cold Blood" all the way, since that song rules! |

Funny Money's last album (STICK IT) came closest to recapturing the old Kix sound. Beau Hill (who produced Kix' MIDNITE DYNAMITE back in the day) mixed that one so that may have had something to do with it. As for a reunion, they do occasional live gigs (they were just at the Rocklahoma festival last month) but since Whiteman and Purnell apparently hate each other's guts, new material is not likely to happen. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
