Drummers with other talents.

I have been amazed lately by how a few drummers I am fans of actually write the bulk of music in their bands. The ones I know right off the top of my head that get mad respect are:

Steve Asheim from DEICIDE

Lee Harrison from MONSTROSITY

Nick Jett from TERROR


Anyone else know other drummers that are primary songwriters in their bands?

Ted Kirkpatrick - Tourniquet

Ed Warby is the main composer in Hail Of Bullets, and in the last 2 Gorefest albums has composed some songs.

Shawn Drover used to write a lot of Eidolon's stuff.

Andy Sturmer from Jellyfish, he writes, composes, plays drums and is the lead singer.

Jellyfish ruled. Saw em live once. Incredible show.

Good choice indeed. I must also add my favorite drummer of all time, Mike Portnoy-Dream Theater. He helps write the music (all songs are written as a group effort) and has written the lyrics to many songs including the one of the best epic songs ever made IMO, A Change Of Seasons. He also produces and is an amature fim maker.

Former Ultimatum guitarist Sean Griego is also a guitarist and is writing a solo album where he will play guitar.

Scott, isn't Tourniquet also called Tedniquet?

Snowy Shaw from Dream Evil wrote a lot of the music. And the short lived drummer for Hammerfall, Jesper Stromblad is founding guitarist of In Flames.
