Nu-metal

I kinda like it. Don't know if anyone else does. Especially this album.

Saxon loves them.

This must be a rite of passage here now. The obligatory nu metal thread.

How many threads are there with this title (or a VERY close variation of)?

I guess I'll be Eyesore for a second and say: "Use the search function". I'm too damn lazy to dig up X number of threads and post the links here as he would do, though.

There's some stuff I like from it, but overall, I'm not a fan. I haven't bothered with it in years.

It's closer to nu-metal than anything else, so by default it is. Nothing wrong with that label, anyway. I happen to like a ton of "nu-metal" bands.

There is some good stuff out there in the "nu-metal" and "alt-rock" scenes. I really like Godsmack, Staind, Nickelback, Alice In Chains, etc... I like Disturbed ok. Their cover of Land of Confusion is really good.

Isn't "nu-metal" kind of.... well, old now?

It's just out of the mainstream. Plenty of bands are still playing that style; new bands, even.

A few bands still remain in the mainstream to a degree. And yes, while I do not like nu-metal, you are correct in that there are plenty of bands still playing the style.

I have to agree with you and I must say that there's probably MORE people who like that kind of music than people who like "regular" metal.

I think he was saying "nu" as in "new" being old. The name is a bit dated.

I know that they still play a lot of "old" nu-metal on the radio these days... But what's the popular sound on the rock stations? I haven't listened to the radio in months and months!
