PostSubject: Game Shows   Game Shows Icon_minitimeFri Jun 27, 2008 6:58 am

Growing up in 80's has created an acute and strong addiction of game shows for me. My first was The Price Is Right when I was probably about 3, then it grew from there. In the 80's daytime TV was full of game shows which were eventually replaced by stupid talk shows and more recently, courtroom shows. So a day off from school meant a day full of game shows. Those were the best days ever!

I still watch the Game Show Network alot these days. I just can't stop.

Some all-time favorites of mine are

Match Game
The Joker's Wild
Tic Tac Dough
Let's Make A Deal
Press Your Luck
Sale of the Century
Card Sharks
The Price is Right (with Bob Barker)
Password
Win Lose or Draw

The list could go on and on....

Any other lifelong game show fans?

I remember most of these very fondly, especially Press Your Luck. The Whammys were the best. Cool

Game Shows Whammys

They were drawn by Savage Steve Holland, the same guy who wrote and directed Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer.

Great show!

I wish Game Show Network would go back to airing mostly re-runs of classic shows like they used to when they first started out on the air. They have too many of their own "original" programs now, and it's just not the same. I could watch those old "Match Game" episodes all day long but most of their new games dont' do much for me.

That's where the "No Whammy's" thing came from. I couldn't remember. I do remember the early episodes of Whhel of Fortune though.

Sale Of The Century was my all time favorite. As a youngster I actually for awhile wanted to be the next Jim Perry. Funny thing is, I actually have no memory of what the actual game was.

I was also a big Family Feud fan. And since that came on in the evening it was easier viewing.

I haven't steadily watched any gameshows in probably over 10 years, but I was a fan of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Deal Or No Deal for awhile.

I used to watch PlayMania (which was later split into Quiznation and 100 Winners ) a lot late at night on GSN, but only for Shandi, one of the hostesses. Seriously, one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Too bad the show got cancelled last year.

Back in the day, these were my faves:

Press Your Luck
Family Feud (Ray Combs version only)
Finders Keepers
Fun House
Double Dare
American Gladiators (if you wish to categorize it as a game show, and I'm not talking about that NBC trash)
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
The Price Is Right
Shop 'til You Drop
Supermarket Sweep
Win, Lose or Draw
I'm Telling!
the various monetary increments of Pyramid

Standbys like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were never my scene.

GREAT show!! I went to the MTV Studios and sat in the "Remote Control" studio audience once when I was in college. I got the tickets through one of my professors, believe it or not (she was a journalism/communications teacher and had connections). I was stoked not only cuz I loved the show but also because I hoped I'd get to meet the uber-hot hostess, Kari Wuhrer, in person. Unfortunately when we got to the taping I found out that they were starting a new season, and Kari was gone -- she had been replaced by a surfer-looking blonde. Not that said blonde was a BAD looking replacement, mind you, but I'd had my heart set on seeing Kari close up. Smile

It was still a lot of fun either way. I got a high-five from Colin Quinn, Ken Ober shook my hand when he came out onto the set to start the show, and months later when I finally saw one of the episodes I'd witnessed on MTV, I was excited to see a close up of the Sepultura BENEATH THE REMAINS tour t-shirt I was wearing that day, captured on camera for a brief split second in all of its gory glory.

Family Feud has always been one of my favorites, I still watch GSN alot. But their original shows kinda suck, the only one I liked was that Anything To Win documentary series.

When I was unemployed, all I really did was watch GSN all day.

I like the game show where missing a question means losing a finger...or having your sac nailed to the table....
