Here's a random band I stumbled on through MySpace many months ago. They're called Private Line, from Finland. They've got a nice sleazy sound, but it's also strained through a modern filter so it doesn't sound old. Somewhere between Gemini Five and Negative, I'd say. I've yet to find any album by these guys around here and it's unlikely I ever will. But I keep looking.

Either way, do check them out:

I gotta find this; this is my favorite type of music. I love glam/sleaze rock. And Scandanavia sure seems to have a plethora of bands doing that style.

That was easy. Just ordered 21st Century Pirates for 13.99. Their second album is really pricey though!

You should check out Negative, too. You might dig them. Lovex, too.

I changed the subject of this thread, hoping we (or just me) can find some cool new bands. Some nights at work, while ridiculously bored, I'll fart around on MySpace checking out bands. I just jump from band page to band page via the bands' friends lists. That's how I came across Private Line and Negative. So why not share some others?

CARMEN GRAY (http://www.myspace.com/carmengray):

I don't know much about them. They're not well known, I'd say, since I can't even find a download of their album. But they sound great.

FIRE DEUCE (http://www.myspace.com/childrenofthedeuce, http://www.myspace.com/firedeuce):

I guess this is a side-project from some Coheed & Cambria members. They've put out one EP (limited editions came with a bonus EP with unreleased tracks). I picked it up for $10. Well worth it.

LEVEE (http://www.myspace.com/leveecd):

No videos, unfortunately. This is a $5 CD at CD Baby. The band broke up prior to releasing this album. The album, however, is fantastic. I've had it for a good while now, and it's been on constant rotation. When my MP3 player shuffles to a song on this album, I usually jump to the album and play the whole thing. It's that good! Maybe a bit more 70s rock, but it's sleazy...

MALICE IN WONDERLAND (http://www.myspace.com/maliceinwonderland):

Another band I know little about. I've only heard songs online, but they're great!

Watch out!

Here's a triple shot from the frozen north of Europe.

Silver (Norway) http://www.myspace.com/thesilverband

Learned sleaze folk call 'em the new Smack. Which is bold, but their stuff really holds up well to that godly comparison.

Stereo Junks (Finland) http://www.myspace.com/stereojunks

Sneer N' Leer 'tude rock n' roll, with a frontman with thee hip swingin' b*tch manetism of Stiv Bators.

Midnight Scraper (Sweden)
http://www.myspace.com/midnightscraper

Good honest sleazy rock n' soul from a bunch of sharp dressed men that'll get ya 'Shaking Your Moneymaker' like it was 1990 or 1968.

I'm curious. Can you ever just say "Good band?" lol!

Anyway, I've heard all these guys, but only really dig Stereo Junks. Been meaning to snag their EP for a while now.

Neva, i think you should write about the music you love in a way that's entertaining like the music your writing about. Gonzo writing as they call it, but put that down to me reading way too much Lester Bangs, Burroughs, Thompson etc. Plus i listen to interesting music Laughing .

As for the Stereo Junks they have a full record out Suicide Angels (2007). And a brilliant one at that. One of the only ones that matter and at odds with all their Scandi Candy assed Metal dressed as Glam peers (I guess the stuff your trying to court here). You know some bands just lay all the right sonics down and are well read in their rock n' roll history but they all just lack something that their heroes from the 70's and 80's had. Well the Stereo Junks have that 'Thing', that edgey chaos, pathos and underlying 'something' special current. It can't be given justice by words, its just that electricity.

The real heirs to the Backyard Babies sleazed n' pleazed Scandinavian throne after they themselves lost their way sometime around when the nowhere nineties gave way to the the naughties.

With the value of the Euro sucking right now, it's a good time to buy imports.

Heh. I was about to say no thanks, but then I started to dig it. Might have to think on this one.

I did see on that site that Rhino Bucket is putting a new one out this year.

I ordered that RB CD already.

I also ordered the Prima Donna CD last night. I'll let you know how it is.

Speaking of Rhino Bucket. Second Spin has nine copies of And Then It Got Ugly, priced at $7.99.
