Depends on what kind of melodic metal. Theres melodic death, thrash, etc.

Since I know you like In flames so much Jordan, I would recomend stuff like Becoming the Archetype which is melodic death. Not much at all like In flames, but still melodic and freaken sick. Try the first album, Terminate Damnation, its by far the best of the two.

Melodic metal? Or melodic death metal? Because In Flames are not melodic metal.

Nearly all of those bands play a different style, my friend.

I'd recomend checking out a band from Portland called Almost is Nothing.
I don't know if you'd consider them melodic metal though.

Alot of the band's you guys consider metalcore are bands that I consider to be melodic so I don't know anymore.

Way to many subgenres to keep track of.

But no dog, Black Dahlia Murder is pretty sick.

If you like them you should check out Bring Me the Horizon or I Killed the Prom Queen.
IKTPQ is probably more metalcore though.

melodic metal is a pretty broad term, it covers traditional, thrash, power, death, black, gothic, etc etc.

Keep trying guys. These two grumpy old farts that are giving you such a hard time are probably the formost experts on this board on dark melodic metal. I've gotten great tips from both of them, but you gotta understand each of these guys has 8 or 9 kids, so they have no patience with younger people. You'd be grumpy too if you had so many kids. But they're both fanatic Catholics and refuse to get vasectomies. Sad.

If you like "In Flames", try bands like "Arch Enemy", (the late) "Carcass", "Dark Tranquillity", "At The Gates", "Dissection", they are all very good!

If you like Children Of Bodom then I would recommed Catamenia-Location: Cold. They are technically a black metal band but I feel they have more in common with melodic death metal than black.

I'm not trying to be a dick, jordan, At least not very hard, but you miht wanna check up a little metal history before you go on a METAL board and call In Flames melodic metal....... And would it hurt you to write standard sentences, with proper spacing, and caps? You American kidz comes across less coherent in your own language than the guild og arkeyan steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeele! Smile

Kmorg hit on a pet peeve of mine. I find Kmorg, Olafsto, Krokus and others clearly trying and doing an awesome job of handling/communicating in a second (3rd, 4th??) language. Then we have ugly Americans butchering it. I can't stand seeing that. I don't have perfect grammar, but I actually try harder on-line because I think it's important to practice. I've become a better speller since I joined the CMR and the old H.O.M. back in the Fall of 05 because what I type is forever. I've found the challenge of being understood clearly in writing to be much greater than in person. In writing body language and obvious visual context are not present, so what's written has to convey the whole message.

Anyhow, mini-rant over. God help us all!
