The only dealing I ever had with Impulse was when they were briefly running their own label, "Pulse Records," back in the late 90s/early 00s. They ran an ad in Metal Edge mag that said if you sent 'em a dollar they'd send you a sampler CD with a bunch of their bands on it (I remember a couple of 'em were Frost Bite, Gotthard, Paul Shortino, and Al Atkins; I can't recall the rest). It took them THREE MONTHS to get that CD to me. By the time it finally arrived I had totally forgotten that I'd even ordered it!
To add insult to injury, the CD came with a note warning me that the disc's volume levels had been screwed up during mastering, meaning the volume was so low on the CD that to hear much of anything when I played it, I had to turn my stereo up to near full blast. (then of course, I'd forget to turn it back down again when I was done playing the disc, so that the next time I turned the stereo on, the volume would blow me halfway across the room!) Eventually I just threw the CD away.
After that experience I decided to stay far, far away from that company!!
