You need mikes and a tape recorder.

You need good mics and a recorder. Preferably a mixer, too.

You can multi-track it by having a mic on each (or almost each) drum/cymbal, or just one or two overhead, open air mics, but the easiest way would be to just get a drum machine and go direct into your recorder.

What Trog said. Back in the 4 track days our Drummer & I would record the Bass & Drums at the same time on the same track, had to make sure the levels were good because you could'nt do much to fix them later.

The bad thing about using vocal mikes on drums is they are usually omni-directional and that can cause some hassles. I have used two 4 channel boards, one board for the kick and toms, the other board for snare/ hi hat and 3 for cymbals. You can run both of those boards into whatever your recording with, either as two channels or as one w / splitter. This way you can get actual sound without degregation from bouncing tracks.
