So I'm going to record some songs.....

So I have been writing music for most of my life. Just for myself. I'm not great, but I am to a point where I am wanting to record some stuff. But it is just myself. I can get around most of it except the drums. Has anyone here done some one-man recording and has some tips about getting proper drum sounds?

I believe my cousin uses some program called drums from hell or drumkit from hell.

Can't help you with any programs but if you could find out what Rock 'N' Rolf used in Running Wild you'd be set.

Pretty sure that's what Devin Townsend used on the Ziltoid album.

I really like the program Acoustica Beatcraft. The drums sound pretty good which has led a few people to believe I record with real drums, not use a program

HAHA! I assure you those drums were real. I have video to prove it.

I hope things go well for you Brian.....programing measure by measure is a pain-n-@$$ thing. I did it a few times back in the day and even was "replaced" by programed drums when a band I had just joined recorded a song or two for a comp via request of the producers using a digital format of some sort. Anywho's...some good sugestions so far and mileage may vary. Use what you are comfortable with and don't settle for convenience over quality.
