| Is this just me?
Are there any bands that you have listened to so much in the past that you can barely stand to hear them today?
Mine would be
Danzig, Trouble, Ozzy led Sabbath, and Savatage. While they are all great bands, I always skip over them in my Zune shuffle due to the fact that they have been overplayed by me in the past. I am going to have to delete them to make room for others. |

| Not so much bands, but I have overplayed the hell outta certain albums. I have burnt myself out on W.A.S.P.'s THE CRIMSON IDOL, Metallica's MASTER OF PUPPETS, the Misfits' AMERICAN PSYCHO and a couple of others over the years. I still play them occasionally, but nowhere near as often as I once did. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I haven't listened to Ozzy's early solo stuff in quite some time due to overkill. And allot of my older glam/hair stuff (Cinderella, Faster Pu$$ycat, Dokken, etc) definately got overplayed. | |

| Not really burned out.....but I just have had to back off on Rush, Zep, and a few other favorites. Blind Guardian's - NIME was so mind-blowing to me that about 1 month in I had to purposely step away from it before I did get burned out. I now have enough CDs to rotate that I won't suffer this. | |

I'm in that camp. I don't get burned out, but I do have to back off. This is true of many albums but sometimes I have a hard time backing off (i.e. like in the case of Avantasia-The Scarecrow, Allen-Lande-both albums, Circle II Circle-Burden Of Truth, and some others) but that also has to do with how I listen to my music at Wal-Mart (certain CDs are hard for me to listen to at work because most of the time I have to keep my headphones hidden from the sight of mangagement).

| I rarely listen to the same band, let alone a specific album or a song more than once a day (unless its something new from a favourite band that Im getting familiar with), so no, not really any overplayed in that sense. I have so much stuff to choose from in my collection, or discover online, so theres really no risk. What I have burnt out on though, is going to see some bands live, Ive come to realize its enough to go see most hard rock/metal bands a total of four or five times, unless its an absolute favourtite band, since most bands insist on playing the same old, tired, staples. Boring! |

| Kiss, Metallica and I'm sad to say, Savatage. Min you though, I always enjoy these bands once I do put them on, but it's getting harder and harder to pull them out. _________________ | |

| Not so much bands per se, but certain classic albums I've had to sort of "retire". I still like them but I've just heard them too many times. I consider it kind of a Hall of Fame type thing actually. Sadly, some of the "retired" albums include Stained Class, Paranoid, Van Halen I, Free For All, News of the World, and even Machine Head. It's sad, but it happens. Another thing is that other people such as roomates burn bands out for me by my having to listen to them too much when they play them when I'm around. This happened with Zeppelin and Ozzy for me. Also this is why I hate commercial radio. I can get burned out on great music against my will, just because I'm always hearing it at the supermarket or in the doctor's office, etc. One way that I've found to avoid burnout is to only listen to certain genres of music at certain times of the year. For example April is the time I usually pull out my classic guitar rock stuff. I've pretty much left it alone all winter. In the Winter I listen to power metal for the most part. In the summer I lean toward pomprock and AOR, and in the fall I listen to pop; Tears for Fears and the Church and stuff like that. The only stuff I play year round is my Psych/acid rock. But I've got so much of that that the chance for burnout on any one thing is minimal. | |

| I get burned out a lot just because I dont have an extensive music library yet and I refuse to download, I must own original discs! I have gotten tired of Hammerfall before, one of the first bands for me back in 2004 when I started listening to metal. I still love them but Its hard for me to dig them out and sit through and entire album like I used to. | |

| I'll "shelve" certain overplayed titles when I feel the burn-out coming. Basically they get put away from all players and onto the top row of the CD rack in my over-flow room. Then in time (a year on average) they are welcomed back with much love and put back in the "rotation". I tend to not view it as a banishment but more of an opportunity for other things to get heard. This is especially true when the pile of unlistened CDs becomes back-logged.
Recently Anthrax's Sound Of White Noise, Testament's Practice What You Preach, and Raven's All For One have been "shelved".

| I don't why some people think an extensive music collection prevents burnout. I have over 3000 CDs and still sometimes burn myself out. Regardless how many CDs you have, when you get a new one that you really love and just play it over and over, you can be a burnout victim. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I have played Priest, Maiden, Whitesnake, Dokken, Kiss, Deep Purple, Queensryche, Y&T, Fates Warning, and Savatage for the better part of 20 years. I sometimes get "burned out" on a particular band for a while, but then will overdose on them again for a few more weeks/months. I listen to certain bands at certain times of the year. It's not a hard and fast rule, it just seems to happen that in the summer when the sunroof is open and it's bright and sunny out, I seem to crank more party rock like Vanhalen, Y&T, Whitesnake, Kiss, Ratt, Krokus, Hurricane, etc.; and in the winter time, more Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Stratovarius, Helloween, Iron Maiden, etc, Just a thought. | |

| I'll get burnt out on bands and I'll ignore them for a while but then usually after a while I'll fall back in love with those artists or albums. what I really don't like is when you just can't find anything to listen to like when your on a really long road trip and you've played so much music your not really in the mood to listen to it anymore but you don't wanna drive in silence so you just search through and through but nothing really sounds good to you | |

| alice cooper, rata blanca, mortification, savatage, metal church, pink floyd, genesis, accept, black sabbath, iron maiden, heroes del silencio, joe satriani, manowar, Ratt, and The Doors. There are some of the bands I have listened a lot in the past, and I tend to stop listening to some bands for 1 year the most to start listening again | |
