No Metallica?
Hmmm....I understand they couldn't get rights to everything but Metallica is a glaring omission.
Gary Moore isn't metal.
Might have been a rights issue.
Gary Moore was indeed playing hard rock and heavy metal in the early 1980's. He is now a blues player, but he wrote some great metal. Check out Victims of the Future. Great stuff.
Foreigner isn't what most would call metal either. I think including them was pushing it. I think a band like Riot, Raven or Accept would have been a better call over Foreigner for the year 1981. Shoot, if they were dead set on including an American band for that slot, they could have gone with Aerosmith - Jailbait or Lightning Strikes.
In 1980, I would have picked a different cut from "British Steel". "Metal God" or "Rapid Fire" maybe.
The '82 is quite good. Might have included Raven on that one too, but otherwise, nothing I'd remove.
The '83 disc is outstanding. Nothing I'd remove, but I might have included the additional track "Sirens" by Savatage or "Queen of the Ryche" by Queensryche.
'84 is outstanding as well although a better Motley Crue track could have been chosen. Either that or replace them with something off Metal Church's s/t or Stryper's "Yellow & Black Attack".
