My first christian metal was Believer. This college radio station I used to listen to from CT had a guy that would open his metal show with the song Dies Irae I thought it sounded it awesome with the female vocals and then the band came in and it was sort of Pantera-ish. Then I heard the Trilogy of Knowledge on the same station and I was like thats it I gotta go find this bands albums. So I picked up Dimensions first and it ended up that the only song I liked was Trilogy of Knowledge. I finally found Sanity Obscure after countless searches and then again I only liked that one song Dies Irae. The guys voice is very hard for me to really get into. And not too long ago I found out they had another album called Extraction from Mortality which of course I had to pick up and I actually think that ones a little more tollerable with the vocals but this album didnt have one of those "special" songs on it like the others. Even though im not 100% crazy about them Im anxious to hear their new album.

What's funny is, I thought Stryper were going to be this ridiculous terrible band, when I had first heard about them, but the album just blew me away, and I've loved em ever since.

Although, had I ever been hit by one of those bibles, I think I'd be a little pissed.

First thing I heard by a band that I knew was Christian was Vengeance - Human Sacrifice. Me and my friends were always trying to "one up" each other by finding heavier and heavier bands. A buddy of mine was only allowed to listen to Christian bands and he came up to us one day and said "check this out" and gave us dubs of Human Sacrifice. We were all blown away, as we all thought Christian bands were gonna be like Styper (never really been a fan, and had not even bothered to listen to them at that point because of the look they had going).

From there my friend brought me dubs of Sacrament, Believer, Tourniquet, Deliverance, etc. Some of those remain some of my favorite albums to this day.

Like Tall T - it depends on semantics.....

Rez Band - Hostage. They were weird or poppy a lot on this one but Attention is by all means metal.

Bride - Silence Is Madness was the first truly heavy heavy metal. It was my "gateway". It's still my favorite of all time!
