Think back to the 1980's. Remember all those songs that had a big drum bridge? The song would follow a familiar script...verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, solo - and then there would be a big drum bridge where most of the other instruments would fall into the background for a moment and there was just a thundering drum part. Many times the band would sing the chorus over this part too. Then the chorus would come back for one or two more rounds.
I miss that. I always enjoyed it. Once in a while, a modern band, in a nod to the old school, will still do it. But its exceedingly rare these days.
