A guy over at the metalreviews.com forum is good friends with the band and he's been hyping them up since before their first demo. They blew up quick, and quite deserving. They're like Kiske/Hansen-era Helloween (not including Chameleon/Pink Bubbles Go Ape). |

Well surely Chameleon/Pink Bubbles wouldn't come under that bracket as Hansen left after Keepers Part 2? Also, do Strapping Young Lad count as newer? I know they have a few albums behind them but they didn't pop up til the mid 90s I believe. Devin Townsend is a genius. _________________ | |

I would say no. SYL has been around for over 10 years now. And yes, Devin is a genius. I can't wait for the Ziltoid the Omniscient album! |

| Yeah, I had a feeling SYL may be too old. I too am looking forward to Ziltoid, but I wish Dev had kept the original name of 'The Mighty Masturbator'. That would've been hilarious. _________________ | |

| Don't listen to much newer stuf but I can say without a doubt that I love Temptation Come My Way from The Showdown (since it's only album #2 I would call them a new band). I like the fact that they shed about 90% of the metalcore sound and added some southern flavor along with traces of 80's music (I hear traces of Ratt in the first 2 songs, but maybe that's just me). Also I don't know if they count as new but I also like Shadow's Fall and Trivium. Oh I almost forgot about Leaves' Eyes (they only have two full lengths and one EP). | |
