I always thought that THE RODS were implying the same thing...don't know for sure what "their" take on the name means, but with album covers like this...that's the only thing I can come up with.

Their name pretty much sums up the tongue in cheek nature of this band...

When I was younger, still living at home, I was listening to this song and when they repeat the phrase "Giving the dog a bone" over and over, my mom walked by my room and said "For Pete's sake, give the dog a bone and shut up about it!" Neither one of us got the inuendo at the time, but when I look back on it now, I can't help but laugh. And I'm pretty sure my mom still wouldn't get the joke.
