Well there is talk that maybe people would like the CD Compilation resurrected, well here's your choice to decide.

However I have decided to make it between two options if it is to return, do you want a Standard Audio CD (which as you all know holds 15-20 tracks) or do you maybe want to try an MP3 CD Compilation (which could hold at least 10 Albums).

The MP3 version is not ment for illeagle activity like sending brand new albums (because most of you will/can download any CD that you want anyway, no matter how bad you say it is) but this way it's another Member just sending you a Disc of his/her favourite albums (you have no choice in the collection sent to you), sure you could find a Kate Bush album on the CD, lord knows what people here like.

Up to you.

I like to have it back with Audio CDs. I've only participated once, but found a lot of new bands where I then bought albums. I voted for audio CDs, because I think that a limited selection of music is enough to explore some new bands. MP3s is too mutch.

Yeah that would be cool. Im guessing I wasnt around when everyone was doing this before. I would like to hear what everyone else listens to and possibly pick up some new bands

Well I'll be honest and say I went for the MP3 version for the simple reason that after doing the first few rounds of the Audio CDs I went looking for CDs by bands that I had heard a track by from the Comp only to end up dissapointed with the band/album afterwards.

The reason I suggested an MP3 Comp was to hear what albums everyone liked and not just a track sure it's probably different for all of you who, when you do hear a track by a band you just head to their myspace site or download an album to hear what they are really like rather than getting an opinion from 1 track.

Anyhow if it does go the way of the Audio CD then if someone doesn't post up their opinions of the CD that they recieved they should be barred from participation in the next two Comps.

I'll participate either way. I have no preference for one over the other. I do enjoy doing the swaps, and getting a chance to hear what other people enjoy!

I would do it too! I prefer the audio so the tracks are limited to the ones the person really enjoys...

I had to vote audio CD. I recently sent Shiney an MP3 CD and it got him all confoozled. Haha. But I think it should be optional per swap. If two people are into doing the MP3 thing, pair them up.

good idea, Eyesore...

Ironically I had been going to post about bringing this back just as Locky brought it up, mainly aswe have a lotof newer blood here that was not privy to the first waves...

I like the idea of it, but I'm not sure that I would participate. I'd be concerned that my music collection wouldn't be "obscure" or "underground" enough for some of the members here.

Audio CDs.

This is a reference to the "Comp War" things we were doing last year, right?

I was thinking the same when the comp swapping was going on last year. Kind of wanted to jump in, but whats the fun in making a comp cd for someone, and it turns out the person you swap with has heard 90% of it?

YES! I worked hard on all my comps to review them honestly and I like to read everyone else's reviews....so I agree with this...

Yea that can happen, but you should jump in anyway, and don't worry about not having an obscure list of stuff, here's an example of a review that Sideshow did for a CD that Saxon1500 sent him (look at some of the bands used here, some household names you'll agree) so this is for anyone.

Here is a short review of Disc 1 from UncleSax:

1. Saxon - Machine Gun
How did I miss this band all these years? I freakin' LOVE their new album (and it's the first thing I've REALLY REALLY heard from them). This track is GREAT! Cool NWOBHM. I REALLY need to get their back catalogue.

2. Twisted Sister - You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll
Who doesn't love Dee Snider and the boys?! It's metal baby! Great band, great song.

3. Dead Milkmen - Bitchin' Camaro
I almost died laughing at the song name! I've seen this band's music in the used bins before. Starts out with this whole jazz vibe and two guys talking sounding like total dorks! This thing was FUNNY! Not usually my thing, but damn if I didn't like this!

4. Warrior - Fighting For The Earth
ALWAYS wanted to hear this! Old-school metal baby! Too bad this thing is so stupidly rare! GREAT tune!

5. Rainbow - Death Alley Driver
Good ol' fashioned heavy metal. I've never really heard much Rainbow, to be quite honest. A lot of the stuff that came before my time I have missed out on. Don't know why...

6. Plasmatics - Mistress Of Taboo
I've never tried Wendy O.'s bunch before. This is actually a pretty cool hard rockin' track! Her voice is a lot different than I expected.

7. White Lion - All Burn In Hell
I've heard this band before, but is has literally been YEARS! This is a really cool moderately paced rocker. Nice anthemic chorus.

8. Rollins Band - Liar
I LOVE this track! I saw the video for it when it first came out. I don't think anyone can match Henry Rollins for pure attitude! Mostly spoken word over easy jazz type music, until the chorus of course!

9. Michael Schenker Group - Attack Of The Mad Axeman
Never really tried Schenker before. Kind of a funky rocker! Not usually something I would enjoy, but it hit the right spots.

10. Y & T - Down And Dirty
Yet another band I've always known about, but never tried. COOL hard rocker! I love the vibe of this tune. Totally something you'd go see live and just rock out to with a beer in your hand!

11. Tigertailz - Peace Sellz
I've heard this before, and it's just as good a second time around! Great cover of a classic song! I really need to look into this band more, as the one CD-R I have of theirs is rocking fun!

12. AC/DC - Night Prowler
CLASSIC band! I think this band has at least one track that everyone in America likes. One of rock / metal's most distinct bands.

13. Descendents - Enjoy
I've heard these guys before. Their style is usually so polar opposite to what I usually enjoy, I don't know why I like them! I just find them so humorous and fun.

14. Raven & Udo - Inquisitor
2 legends banging things up together! Awesome track!

15. Scorpions - He's A Woman, She's A Man
Here's the original version of that Evildead cover! Such a cool tune, with slightly twisted, but quite funny, lyrics!

16. Madam X - Metal In My Veins
Cool old school heavy metal track! Another winner on some GREAT comp discs!

17. Malice - Breathin' Down Your Neck
Continuing the old school metal lick, this one kicks @$$!!!! I love the guitar work, and singer is outstanding. I keep meaning to hunt down this band's music. This only reinforces that need!

18. The Godz - Gotta Keep A Runnin'
Pretty cool rock tune. Nothing mind blowin', but still cool. All in all, 3 great discs from the UncleSax!

I would be willing to do this but selected audio because with my Vista I can't make anything but data or audio discs. When I had XP and was able to use music match I could make MP3 discs but not anymore.

I enjoy making comps. I did 17 for Ultmetal last year and it was a blast and I would like to do it for others as well.

I would love to do it again. Scotty sent me a great disc last time and hopefully he felt the same.

I would do either MP3 or Audio. Maybe if you do an MP3 limit it to 30-40 tracks. Other wise... how would you review it? 10 albums all at once.. A lot to digest. It doesn't really matter, up to the individuals.

I'm in...

Is that where you can put 150 songs or whatever on one disc? You got me doing that Eyesore, and now I have my 330 CD collection condensed onto 25 cds for easy toting. It's great!!

Not these. I thought the same thing but when I made one and put it in my car's CD/MP3/WMA player it would not recognize it.

It is. It's awesome if your car stereo plays WMA/MP3. That's what I have. I've got a 200 CD binder in my truck full of CDRs. So that's like 2,000 albums. Pretty sweet.

I will say, however, it can be a bit of a hassle making an MP3 CD for just a compilation swap. I'm ripping a bunch of stuff for Locky and it's time-consuming. Haha. Especially trying to get some CDs to rip without jitter errors. That's a pain in the balls!

OK maybe there's no need with this Poll anymore because there seems to be an overwhelming desire to have the Comp back, we got 14 votes in favor of it so at least we know we sould have the numbers to make it work.

I'll Sticky up a new thread for the names of those interested and we shall take it from there.
