| On some versions of In Flame's "Colony" album, there is a bonus track at the end, called "Man Made God". It's an instrumental...it's AWESOME! Seriously, it's one of my favourite instrumentals of all time, and that is saying a lot. It's ultra-melodic, has a damn catchy/awesome main riff, and even some acoustic moments. I don't know, but every time I listen to it, I get reminded of some sci-fi computer game, or something in that direction. I always thought this track would be an awesome video-game soundtrack for some early 90s DOS engine game. If you have the older version of the album, get the bonus track release! It's just as, if not stronger than several songs on that album.

| I know the song. It is actually a very great instrumental piece, definitely one of my favourites. It's got some extremely hooky leads. _________________ | |

Exactly. And that main riff just sucks you in like a black whole. I love the shor acoustice part about 2 minutes into the song...it is so awesome. - I was never a huge In FLames fan, but I like some of their music.

Sure. Post your thought on 'em too. Personally, their older stuff is really good, but I just couldn't swallow the vocals. At somepoints, they grew on me, but...eh. Maybe because my first exposure to In Flames was these four songs: Cloud Connected, The Quiet Place, Trigger, and MAN MADE GOD. - At first, the only song I liked was Man Made God. I just thought the others sounded too modern for my liking. Well, the music was great, all though downtuning at some points, I just don't get how people can label it Nu-Metal. Those ultra-catchy melodic leads and excellent solo's certainly blew away nu-metal, and is as far away to nu-metal you can get. It was mostly the way he approached his clean vocals...they just sounded...well..."trendy", if that makes any sense...and at some points, the chorus and verses do sound like a sped-up, aggresive version of what you might hear on a Papa Roach album, but over time, I grew to love these four tracks (maybe not as much "Trigger", but the other three). I always liked the drum work as well. Being a drummer myself, I loved how he made very nice, complicated, but bull's-eye drumwork using ONE pedal, and showing his true skills as a drummer, instead of just attacking the double-bass pedal as much as possible (he uses it sparingly, and knows when to add some flavour with the double's). - I also found the lyrics on their last three albums to be very interesting. I don't know, mabe it's me, but when I read the lyircs to songs like "The Quiet Place" while listening to the music, it takes me to anothe rworld of thought, and can imagin someone escaping from some wierd sci-fi place...I don't know, maybe it's me.

I think he was referring to the band Man Made God, who aren't very good. And In Flames are not nu-metal. Surely they're not a standard melodeath band anymore, but a groovy guitar riff doesn't make a band nu-metal. Nor does a label-paid video with scantily clad women washing a car. That's not a nu-metal video; that's a great video! |

But I can tell from the name, that they are probably not what I like. haha, no comments on that - I know they are not Nu-Metal, that's what I was arguing against. I think "Cloud Connected" and "The Quiet Place" are great songs.

| Don't judge a band by their name, you'll miss out on a lot. Like Freak Kitchen, for instance.
I'm not huge on the newer Inflames stuff, bbut I'm not vehemently against it either. Still, give me Clayman / Colony any day over the others. _________________

Well, they sound like just another Lamb of God clone, or new-wave brutal Death Metal...or your average metalcore crap. ...But sure, if someone gave me some files, of course I would give 'em a listen.

And you just proved his point. They are neither metalcore or death metal. http://www.myspace.com/mmg2003 Thought Craig Locicero and Steve Jacobs (ex-Forbidden) are in this band, it's not metal at all, but something similar to progressive—for lack of a better word—alt-rock. |
