A band I've seen mentioned in passing here one or two things, I've never seen much discussion regarding them. I recently picked up Jonah's Ark and Prince of the Poverty Line and have been listening to both albums pretty much on loop. They're both absolutely fantastic. I was introduced to Skyclad originally by some of their more recent, Kevin Ridley era stuff, but it wasn't long before I got a hold of lots of tracks from various points of the Martin Walkyier period. Now that I have several albums, I feel I can make an informed opinion - they smurfing rock. Insightful lyrics, if incredibly bitter most the time, great riffs, very interesting song writing and generally unique and engaging. Nothing like a bit of Thinking Allowed? or Land of the Rising Slum to appeal to both your musical and lyrical senses.
So, I know there are a few fans here. What's your favourite album? What do you think of the newer stuff? I personally think it's good, although not as strong as the earlier stuff... I mainly think that a few of the reworkings on No Daylights Nor Heeltaps are quite off. That version of Spinning Jenny is odddd. Anyway, enough blathering from me - someone else contribute!
