My kids (ages 4 and 9) have discovered the genius of Weird Al lately... they've been making me play all of his videos on YouTube for them... which prompted my latest Hub entry.

I like your list. I think his 'Party in the CIA' is one, if the not the best, of his works. If I had to do a top 10 songs i would:
01 Party in the CIA 02 The Saga Begins 03 Ode to a Superhero 04 Ebay 05 Amish Paradise 06 Yoda 07 I Lost On Jeopardy 08 Theme From Rocky XIII 09 This Song's Just) Six Words Long 10 Living With A Hernia

Glad you dug, man. A bunch of people have lambasted me for leaving "White & Nerdy" off of my list but to be honest I am not as familiar with most of Al's post-90s work. By then I wasn't listening to pop/top 40 radio or watching MTV as much anymore so I wasn't even familiar with the 'real' songs he was parodying!

Straight Outta Lynnewood is probably my least favorite Al cd. It was just flat from start to finish, but a lot of people disagree with me. I find that Weird Al's parodies end up being more memorable than the originals in a lot of cases.

Oh man... Party at the Leper Colony! That song is hilarious and leaves laughing every time I hear it. Definitely one of my favorites by him.
I tend to prefer the originals like Talk Soup, When I was Your Age, Virus Alert and Weasel Stomping Day.
I gotta say tho, that the highlight of every album is the polkas. Pop-music set to polka never gets old... especially when its a song your kids like.
That is actually the one album that I have not heard unless the song was on a compilation.
That was the first one I heard, it was a big hit in Junior High (1983). Ricky, Stop Draggin' My Car Around, I Love Rocky Road, My Bologna, Another One Rides The Bus...good goofy fun.

Off the Deep End was the one that I heard first. On a different topic, the DJ's at 98.3 KTWS, the local rock station here played Smells like Nirvana followed by Smells Like Teen Spirit as a tribute to Kurt Cobain when he removed himself from the gene pool.

Interesting. I've always imagined him as a pretty straight-laced kinda guy. Are you sure it wasn't you that was exceedingly stoned?

I enjoy that one. As much as I love Weird Al, his albums can be kinda hit or miss.

One of my buddies met Al in New Orleans during Mardi Gras in the early '90s and he too reported that Al "seemed kinda baked." But then that's Mardi Gras for ya I guess.
